It is a lovely place to stay in Hakone. It’s a bit up a hill and therefore you get great views - if the weather allows it you might be able to see Fuji from there). The onsen facilities were great and we even had a private onsen on the balcony which was amazing. Staff is so friendly and welcoming and both dinner and breakfast were superb!

Outstanding traditional ryokan. Brilliant location, parking. Helpful staff. The en-suite private onsen was excellent. We also had private family access to a public onsen. The traditional breakfasts were delicious and huge.

The rooms were very large and nicely decorated. We had a private outdoor bath which was amazing.

− We booked too late to get dinner. Totally our fault. It would have been great with some info about local dinning options.

+ : Un véritable ryokan japonais avec un onsen privé dans la chambre (possibilité aussi d'aller à l'onsen public de l'établissement). Une expérience à faire absolument. On est dans la pure tradition japonaise. La journée tranche avec la frénésie d'un périple à travers le Japon. + : Le dîner est d'une qualité exceptionnelle + : La chambre, typiquement japonaise, est spacieuse. + : Emplacement à proximité de l'embarcadère pour le Lac d'ashe et les fumeroles d'Owakudani.

− Ce n'est pas un "moins". Seulement, à mon sens, il ne faut prévoir qu'une seule nuit dans un ryokan comme celui-ci. Au bout d'un moment, on doit se sentir "enfermé". Autre "mini moins" : impossible d'avoir une dose de café supplémentaire. Au prix payé, on la méritait. Mais c'est anecdotique.
