A great location for exploring the Scottish Borders

I was a little nervous about this one given some of the poor reviews but in the event it was a great wee place. Yes, it is quite tired and aspects could do with the deep clean or refresh but that's reflected in the price. At the end of the day the bedding was fresh, the cutlery and glasses were clean as was the majority of the property. It was well placed for walking into Melrose via the disused railway line at the back of the house. A great location for exploring the borders so I would recommend. Plenty of safe parking within a stone's throw.

The bed was comfortable

− The door at the back door had no working key and was permanently unlocked. The terrace is disgusting covered in cigarette butt's and great big weeds all over. Even what looked like a pool of human blood. The kitchen cupboard handle in the corner just falls off. The property was surface clean. I found a strip from a sanitary product just next to the bed. No parking Front door lock was difficult to get to work at times. We had no arrival information provided. The info was sent 24 hrs after arrival. I had to chase the owner to be able to access the property. Would not recommend

Disappointing as the narrative for the property was misleading.

Spacious and comfortable.

− The property needs a thorough clean. More disappointing was the lack of reference on the Booking.com site to the location of the bathroom downstairs....a good way from the principal bedroom. As for the "outdoor dining area" and "patio", this was a total misrepresentation of what was actually available. There are no acceptable outdoor facilities. These comments are made with reference to the Booking. com site through which we booked.
