Hôtel avec un bon rapport qualité prix. Très propre et bien situé non loin de l'avenue de l'indépendance.

− Service au abonnés absent, se trompe sur le prix de la chambre, le numéro de la chambre, oublie le code wifi, salle de restauration déserte... Tout de même le personnel est très souriant et la patronne fais tout son possible pour rattraper les chose

Hotel Joffre is located in the Boulevard Joffre, the heart of Toamasina city. It is a safe street, in which most of the best bars and resturants, as well as banks, small supermarkets, barbers, and fashion shops are located within walking distance. The main harbour of Madagascar is about 1 km away. So are the two central markets of Madagascar or Miami Beach complex. It is a well-managed hotel with friendly staff, and useful recommendations about the locations in the city can be obtained. The hotel´s exterior and interiors are in made in sort of retro-boutique or rather African-boutique stile, ornamented by local pieces of art-souvenirs. Rooms and bathrooms are large, in pleasant wooden material style, with a balcony, Air conditioner, fan, the safety box are available. TV has TV news channels in French and English. Internet is not perfect, but generally it works well. The hotel can arrange laundry. The Joffre Hotel was badly damaged at the ground floor and the roof by the cyclone in early 2026 – it is being renovated without any noise, and the damage does not affect the quality of the general impression of the hotel. A small key-holder with lemur picture was given to me upon arrival, which is a very nice gesture.

− The hotel has no elevator, the staff can help with the luggage if available. The water in the batroom was at times cold only, and a couple of times electricity cuts lasted for one hour or so. The restaurant of th hotel appeared closed temporarily. Payment for the room is in cash only, which is inconvenient. The worst thing for me in the hotel was the lighting in the room – very poorly lit room and bedside desks, it was very difficult to read at night – this is something that can be improved relatively easily.
