Filthy, unhygienic and completely unacceptable — we felt trapped into staying for safety reasons and

− Absolutely unacceptable – filthy, unsafe and not fit for guests The room was an absolute disgrace and genuinely one of the worst places we have ever stayed. The walls were covered in mud, grime and visible damage, and the entire room felt neglected, unhygienic and completely unfit to be offered as paid accommodation. We seriously considered leaving the moment we arrived. The only reason we stayed was because travelling further down the Stuart Highway at night presented its own safety concerns, and finding alternative dog-friendly accommodation at such short notice was extremely difficult. We therefore felt we had little choice but to stay for a few hours before leaving at 4:30am. We barely slept because we were so uncomfortable with the condition of the room. To make matters worse, during the night a cockroach literally dropped onto the bed before scurrying away. At that point, any remaining doubt about the cleanliness of the accommodation disappeared. This wasn't a case of the room being a little dated or basic. We were travelling through remote Australia and were absolutely prepared for simple, no-frills accommodation. What we were not prepared for was a room in this state of cleanliness and disrepair. We paid for somewhere safe and reasonably clean to sleep. What we received fell well below that basic standard. We left at 4:30am exhausted and extremely disappointed. I would strongly recommend that management inspect this room properly before continuing to offer it to paying guests.
