A perfect place to stay in Venice

Arianna & Martine are perfect hosts, as soon as we have made the reservation they have sent us a kind message with very good indications how to travel from the airport. Marina was waiting for us at the Alilaguna stop and showed us the way to the apartment. She even offered to help with the luggage. The apartment is very nice, modern, spot clean and very quiet. It is close to all attractions and yet in a very quiet block of historic houses. For our next visit to Venice, we will first see whether Marty Guest House is available.

A gem of an apartment!

This place is fantastic. I've stayed in Venice before and had low expectations of the accommodation available in this price range. I have never been more pleasantly surprised. The apartment has been recently renovated, and very well. It's lots of Ikea (which I personally really enjoy) but with lots of small personal touches (framed lace on the walls, paintings, decorative touch above the bed etc.) It's clear Arianna wants this apartment to feel like a home away from home for guests. It was immaculately clean. The kitchen has the very basics, oil and vingegar, salt and pepper, coffee and tea. It's well stocked with pots and pans and some decent knives if you want to cook. The neighborhood is lovely, very quiet, but with a busy square a few blocks away for a meal or a drink. Arianna was lovely to deal with - she picked us up at the nearby vaporetto stop so there was no chance of getting lost trying to find the apartment. Her english isn't great and my italian is non-existent but she had a full script written out to tell us all about the apartment and when we needed a little more help talking about check out time, she rang her son who speaks excellent english and he translated for us. Overall, I highly recommend the Marty Guest House for a home base in Venice.
