Location and breakfast

− Hardly saw anyone from the place and room close to the laundry room could hear the washing machine in the room.

Basically, a nice, well-kept bed-and-breakfast.

View of the harbor; closeness to downtown. The property is in a quiet neighborhood with a short walk to restaurants and the shoreside park where there is a monument at Mile 0 of the original Iditarod. We had a view of the water from our room, and we enjoyed exploring the surrounding area. The kitchen was well stocked with fruit, eggs, pastries, juices and coffee. There is even loaner canisters of bear spray for those who plan to hike in the areas outside of town. Wildlife is plentiful in town (a moose walked down the street a block away), out of town (more moose, snowshoe hares, lots of birds), and in the water (a pair of humpback whales would surface regularly and could be seen from the park). Highly recommended, and we plan to visit again.

Good value with all the comforts of home.

We stayed in the Mermaid room in 12-14 May. Located in quiet residential area just a block from the waterfront and easy walk to the main street where eateries and shops were. The Mermaid room is upstairs so entrance is from upper deck with nice views to surrounding gardens. Very clean, tidy and well heated with a sofa, small dining table and chairs and a small fridge in room. Was connected internally to a shared full kitchen with dining area which was stocked with tea/coffee and breakfast cereal/oats. Plenty of crockery and cooking implements. At other times of the year I believe they provide extra breakfast items.

− The bed in the Mermaid room was metal framed so was a bit creaky and rickety. You could hear the neighbouring guests talking.

Do not stay here if this is your once in a lifetime trip to Alaska

− This hotel ruined our once in a lifetime vacation to Alaska. There was no hot water for the entire stay. We kayaked and hiked and could not have a shower. Then we had our once in a lifetime boat trip to the glaciers again no shower so we felt gross for this for two days. We were not updated or offered to move or anything, just expected to accept it.
