Luccombe Hall is a three star hotel that easily outshines most five star hotels we’ve stayed at.
10.0My review is of the sister property - Luccombe Hall - which is next door. I have mobility problems and the room we were allocated at Luccombe Manor was totally unsuitable. The receptionist reluctantly agreed to move us to a much more suitable room at Luccombe Hall. Which was on the ground floor with a walk in shower. The receptionist there - Cathy - was exceptional, going out of her way to make us feel welcome and to settle us in to our ground floor room and find us a parking space close to the entrance and assist with our luggage. From there on the whole holiday was wonderful. The staff without exception were extremely efficient, friendly and helpful. Our room was very comfortable and suited our needs perfectly. The hotel is beautiful and in a magnificent position on top of a cliff with sensational views and within walking distance of Shanklin old town and the beach. The terraced gardens are truly magical with a wealth of colourful flowers, mature shrubs and trees, lily ponds and fountains and winding paths. Comfortable seating is dotted all around and food and drink will be delivered by the staff to any location in the grounds. A beautiful swimming pool, a children’s playground and various games can also be found there. The restaurant serves beautiful food from a changing menu with beautiful sea views. There is also a very good indoor pool, jacuzzi and sauna and a comfortable bar, with quality music in the gardens or bar each day. We will come again as soon as we are able.
− Our initial reception at Luccombe Manor.
Relaxing and comfortable. Pool was fabulous.
9.0The staff (especially Julie) were fantastic, they looked after us so well. The pool was great after a day of exploring. Lovely TV / games room. Wonderful views.
− There are 2 properties and the one pictured on Booking.com is not the country house which is more old fashioned and some areas could do with freshening up.
Pleasant - but “dog friendly” at the expense of humans!
7.0Quirky grounds with access to sister hotel Very nice fruit salad for breakfast
− Despite booking the best room (sea view at around £350 per night for 6 nights) the bathroom appeared to be a converted cupboard with no bath or space for anything except a tiny shower. Also being “dog friendly” is achieved at the expense of customers without dogs - often 6-8 dogs sat around the breakfast tables causes a horrible smell and atmosphere. Likewise by the pool…….not pleasant!

8.0Beautiful location
− No air conditioning
Gorgeous stay at this lovely hotel.
9.0The team looked after me really well, sorting out a slight room issue quickly and helpfully. The pools and grounds are gorgeous, and the food at the restaurant was delicious.
− It was very hot during my stay, and because the building is rather old it didn't cope as well as a more modern building would have. For the same reason (age of the building) the sound travels between some of the rooms a little.
Staff was amazing!
10.0Lovely location and great facilities
