2.0Location and bedroom was large
− No staff around at published Check in time, room was unbearably hot with no ventilation or fan with a radiator that you couldn’t turn off on the hottest day of the year, hotel and garden seemed like it needed investment and updating, breakfast was dreadful- so many issues about choice and the quality of the food.

Completely disappointing and not up to the merits displayed on old award notices.
3.0We liked the location and the expectation of booking a nice meal for the evening
− We were booked to arrive from 3pm. The place was not staffed until 4pm when a young staff member booked us in together with another couple who also expected to book in from 3pm. Both after long travels. We could not book an evening meal as they had not had a chef since February. The young staff member did recommend a pub in the town which did provide a good meal. The bedroom was spacious and clean but we could not turn the heating down. I later went to the bar which was closed and no staff on duty, The shower screen over the bath did not stay on the bath with water leaking onto the floor. The attempt at the limited breakfast was poor although cereals were available and the staff member working alone did her very best. The property is tired and in need of a major refurb if it is to attract future travellers but would serve as a locals pub.

5.0Great location, large clean comfortable room. Staff were friendly and welcoming.
− We arrived for check in at 3 to find the pub closed at 6 and food service had finished! Should have checked the website in advance, possibly wouldn’t have booked. The breakfast we had was good but had to ask for items offered on the menu- orange juice, fruit ( none available) yoghurt ( limited choice) cereal bar( didn’t ask!)
