Excellent stay - Jeannine on reception was so lovely & amazing to talk to and great value for money!

10.0

The lady on the front desk, Jeannine, was super friendly and helpful and gave us an incredibly thorough description of the city, including some maps for each of us - there were 3 of us - and our Basel cards to travel in the city with. We were there for the Euros and she gave us multiple options to get to the stadium when she explained the tram network to us, which was greatly appreciated as it was our first time in the city. Due to our room not being in the same building as the front desk, she gave us instructions on where to go, how to get in and who to contact if there were issues with the door sticking immediately before where we needed to go to get to our room. I unfortunately had an issue with my iPad in the evening, as my charging cable broke and the end got stuck in my magic keyboard charging port, which was magnetic and none of the three of us in the room could get it out, so I made my way down to the reception where luckily Jeannine was, this was at 22:45, and this incredible woman managed to prize it out with a pair of pliers. It may seem like such an insignificant thing but I was so grateful as I was starting to panic that I wouldn't be able to charge it and get it working again. Super friendly lady, had a lovely exchange with her and she even hoped we'd win the Euros - we did - but unfortunately we didn't see her again during our stay and check out to celebrate the good news. Absolutely amazing stay and great value for money for the 3 of us for 4 nights in the centre of Basel - plus perfect location as it was where the English fan zone was for the tournament final! Jeannine deserves a pay rise for real.

Didn't need to be better necessarily, but I think we got a little confused on where to go to check in, due to google maps and the actual street giving differing information, adding to our bewilderment.

Another fan or a/c would have been really nice, but all in all it was good. Great location and cute apartment with most everything one needs when travelling. Would stay there again! 😁

Hairy first night due to lack of security. Otherwise well appointed rooms.

3.0

Clean, and all the basics- comfortable bed, a couple of coffee pods and Tea bags included with sugar and crockery etc in the kitchen. Separate kettle and coffee maker. Excellent, kind , friendly, helpful , efficient staff.

No security whatsoever to number 79- the apartment suites - on my first night: I wouldn’t recommend this at all for solo travellers, on that basis. The entrance was a random unmanned door on the main road that was ajar at 10pm at night. It looked like the entrance to a crack house. I walked through tentatively not knowing if this was even part of the hotel , due to the lack of signage, but being unable to find any other entrances marked as Hotel Commerce, with the correct street number. The internal door was also purposely held wide open so that anyone off the street - drug addicts etc- could enter at will at any time of the night with no security to stop them and the room doors were then accessible to all from the staircase and lift immediately after the open doors. In the room, there was no visible latch either. The cleaners were able to open the door without obstruction the following morning despite my having turned the inside lock. I was shocked this place was on Booking.com, given the lack of security. I didn’t feel safe at all that first night and didn’t sleep well . I would have changed hotels if it hadn’t been after 10pm, when the reception was closed of the main building. Because I arrived after 10pm, understandably I had to do a self check in, which I expected. (The lovely receptionist explained the following day that she had waited for me past the time I said I was due, to no avail, as I had a delayed flight and unexpected dinner before getting to the hotel). Unfortunately,The self check in terminal is effectively on the street. All your personal information is displayed on a large screen that any passer-by can read/ photograph etc while passing- your name, address, passport/ID number and eventually your room number, in the age of identity fraud , this seemed really unecessary, when a self checkin on your phone would be simpler before collecting the key card from the terminal.

Great price worthy stay

8.0

A great apartment for stay during a little more than a week. The kitchen meant I could have a few meals home which saved both money and time. It was large enough and even though there was no luxury, it had everything I needed for a great stay. The proximity to Messe Basel with several tram lines made it easy to access.
