If you are looking for an authentic New Orleans Hotel then the Olivier House is it! Me and my friends had a great time at the Olivier House Hotel. The hotel is perfectly located in the center of the French Quarter. We enjoined the unique design of the hotel and the cats/staff. The room was ready and spotless when we arrived early to check in. We will definitely be back again!

Great location and a beautiful builidng

The location can't be beat. You are just a block away from Bourbon Street but I never heard any noise from there. The hotel has a lot of historic charm, a beautiful courtyard and 3 resident cats. The staff was polite and helpful. The only thing is that being a historic building the walls are pretty thin. I could hear my neighbors. They weren't even being loud, just normal talking. I ended up buying earplugs to sleep. No magnetic locks. Doors have old-fashioned keys. There also wasn't a deadbolt on the inside. I would honestly rate this 4.5 overall.

An Oasis of New Orleans Charm

We loved the French Quarter. The restaurants. architecture, music, and all the happenings and things going on in the streets, but when one enters the Olivier House it is like entering an oasis of calm, quiet charm away from the outside hustle and bustle. It is hard to believe you are only a block from Bourbon street because it is so quiet and relaxing. Better than that even, is that it does not shield you from New Orleans culture and feel, but really immerses you into it. It would be hard to find a place that feels more like old New Orleans than this hotel. Couple that with the great staff, beautiful rooms and laid back vibe and it just made our time in New Orleans perfect. Thank you all at the hotel. We can't wait to come back.

Charming Olivier House Hotel!

My family and I just stayed 4 nights at the Olivier House Hotel. We chose Olivier for the charm, history & proximity to Bourbon and all the activities nearby. Pros: Everyone was super friendly and check in went very smoothly. They have coffee, tea, hot chocolate, biscotti, cookies & water bottles all day for the guests. The atmosphere in the parlor & lobby is so calming with the decor, music and 3 resident kitties that were usually curled up in a ball sleeping in a chair or on the couch. We had a second floor street facing balcony room with 2 queen beds. Everything was super clean! Cons: Not many, but just a couple..I wish that the bathroom had grab bars and somewhere to put shampoo/conditioner & soap in the shower. The tile is beautiful, but got pretty slippery. Also, there are a few areas on the way to the room where there are a couple of stairs..no biggie, but I felt like one area in particular needed a small rail to hold onto. I had to concentrate really hard not to fall (recently had knee replacement surgery). Balcony room was fun to people watch, but when I was ready for bed, the French quarter was ready to party. This isn’t the hotel’s fault. Don’t get a street facing room if you want a quiet night. Loud cars, trucks & motorcycles parade through the street revving their engines and play LOUD music all hours of the night. Not to mention the people walking the street. The last 2 nights we had to use foam earplugs and white noise all night. Overall a wonderful experience! I would definitely stay here again, but in a different room!

Our second time and just as good

Sometimes when you return to a place it does not live up to your great memories, not so at the Olivier House. Just like our first stay here, we found it to be super clean, comfortable, having a truly nice staff, and packed with as much old New Orleans charm as one could possibly hope for. It is not just a hotel, but a whole New Orleans experience. One of the coolest places we have ever stayed in. If you want a mundane corporate experience, don't come here. but if you want to get immersed into New Orleans culture in the best possible way, this is the place for you. We cannot wait to come back again. As a tip. I might add that the first time we came, we stayed in a streetside room which was fun to see the goings on in the street and people watching, but those same people did make some noise at night. The second time we chose an interior room which was whisper quiet. Both were great, but different experiences. I would recommend both, just depending on what experience you wanted. Also I believe they are glad to let guest change rooms if available.

Adorable! Avoid room 101.

This hotel is adorable! So much charm. Every room is different, and the layout allows for sweet sitting areas and room entrances. The great: The location - right in the middle of the Bourbon St action. Staff were helpful. Room was clean. Water, coffee, and snacks were much appreciated. They handled the parking. And we loved the resident cats. Not so good: we were in room 101, and it’s NOISY. Kept us from sleeping well. Could hear the voices of people walking by on the sidewalk, plus the footsteps from the room above, plus the fans and the elevator noise. I’d definitely stay here again, but not in room 101.
