Motel 6-Newport, RI♡

Completely disgusting.

Close to downtown Newport

− Tried calling the hotel for 3 days before we arrived no answer. Messaged this hotel no response. We wanted an early check in, so as we arrived at 1:30, woman at the desk was snotty and told us 3:30. We left for lunch came back about 2:30 and people were checking in. We checked in with a nice gentlemen. Trying to get into the building was a challenge because the door was broken. The smell of BO and cigarettes smacked you in the face as soon as you open the door. Our room… Uhg the smell was unbearable. We decided to crank up the ac hoping it would help with the stink. The toilet just bubbled continuously when flushed. It’s a non smoking room yet there were cigarette burns all over the bath tub. We left for our outing and came back about 7:30 and this time it took 5 try’s to get in. As we walked in we noticed white power all over the hallway carpets and realized it was carpet deodorizer, that was a nice touch 🤢 we opened up our room and the smell was just as bad so we packed up and went home.

Completely awful. If I had booked directly through Motel 6, I would be requesting my money back.

− We feel it was also being used as a halfway house. The rooms smelled like smoke. We only had two towels in the room that slept four people. When we asked for more towels, they said they were all being washed. They would not let us have an early check-in, even though clearly the hotel was not fully booked. The phone did not work. The ice machine did not work. The hallways and our floor were dirty. the curtains were falling off the rods. The location was very difficult to get in and out of if there was traffic on the main road.

A dirty, unfriendly, unprofessional, scary motel, that is more of social care establishment..

Absolutely NOTHING! It's an absolute disgrace.

− Staff unfriendly and look incapable of running a hotel. At check in I overheard a couple complain they had checked in and their bed linen had stains on it. We dragged our heavy cases up to the 2nd. floor. No elevator. The coridors looked like they had not been vacumed for months. The whole floor stank of tobacco smoke, or stayle tobacco smoke. Even our area that was supposed to be non-smoking. I checked the bed linen in our room. It too had stains and you could see the bed springs through the sheet. I was with my family. We decided to cut our losses and leave immediately, making a new booking. It was a very "shady" place which appeared to mainly rely on homing homeless people, as it looked to me. I can't believe Booking.com would even offer this motel to its customers. Absolutely appalling.

We want a refund.

Nothing. This property is under duress and Booking.com should be ashamed to direct guests there. Exterior door locks are not only non-functioning, they are visibly broken and held together by packing tape. Upon entering the hallway, one was met with an overwhelming stench of bleach - a concerning indicator of what it may be covering up. The assigned guest room, at first glance had recently made beds and A/C turned high. Then I pulled back the window curtain; revealing dead bugs, dust, cobwebs, and hair on the sill, floors, and surfaces throughout the room. Clean sheets or not, it was impossible to believe that this room had been cleaned in any sanitary way, any time recently. After attempting to call the front desk numerous times, and Booking.com customer service by phone and chat, I decided to take my chances on another nearby hotel directly, and leave.
