The Admiral Farragut Inn is one of four properties run by the Inns of Newport. We think the experience will vary depending on which building you're in, what floor your on, and which type of room you've booked. We stayed on the third floor of the Admiral Farragut Inn, so we can only speak to that. We stayed three nights, the third one was free because of confusion in booking. As this is a very old house, this attic room was small, with a tiny bathroom. There is nowhere to set items in the bathroom, and limited space in the bedroom. The room had no chairs, and there's no place to sit in the building except for in the dining room. Perhaps one of the other buildings has a lounge area. The temperature was comfortable, but it was April. It might be toasty in the summer. Fans or air conditioning would be called for. Breakfast is served in this building for the other properties too. Breakfast was made to order, and the French toast was particularly good. Breakfast requests are made at check in for the next morning. For some reason, the innkeeper assumed we wanted the same breakfast every day. We made different requests directly with the cook the day before. The location near downtown Newport is superb, with an Irish Pub a block away and the waterfront and all it has to offer in easy walking distance. This is a good choice if you're looking for basic accommodations, but if you want to hang around in the room or building, it may not be for you. Rooms on the lower floors are more spacious.

Quaint. Loved that we stayed in historic area. The made to order breakfast was good! We are walking distance to downtown Newport, shops, the docks and so many restaurants!

This is in a good location, within walking distance to the harbor and the mansions.

− This was bad. If you look at the pictures below, the first one was as advertised and the second one is the real deal. Let's start with comfort. Bed was two twins with box springs pushed together and what appeared to be a futon draped over the top. A tent would have likely been more comfortable. The floor where I tried to sleep was marginally better. We didn't take a picture of the possessed window AC unit that we had zero control of. It was set at 69 but the room was easily at 80 degrees. The third picture is where the TV was supposed to be. We never were able to connect to wifi and this was a complaint of several guests we ran into, just very bad. Now let's go to cleanliness. Dirty. Head band on the floor behind the door - do they even clean the rooms? The bathroom pictures and especially the sink base and inside give you an idea of just how bad this is. Lastly, the walls/door had no acoustical privacy. We had an individual return to his room at 2:40am and talked in his room for over 4 hours. Other guests were coming out of their rooms to tell him to be quiet to no avail. No phone in the room or emergency contact. Just a ghost town.
