Coalinga Motel

In my opinion, the room was overpriced. It would maybe be good for a family with the extra beds.

− The air conditioner/heater unit was up near the ceiling. It could have been installed down at or near the floor, as heating is more important than cooling (especially in winter - the time I was there). I didn't use the unit due to that location and distance from the bed I chose. (By the way, the other 2 beds had mediocre mattresses or worse; and that's why I didn't use either of them.) I believe that the unit was not even working at the time I stayed. Fortunately, I brought along a small portable heater and that kept me comfortable at night. Next problem is that the room was not furnished with any chairs, it was totally without chairs! There were too few mirrors; only one above the bathroom sink. One more would be appropriate and expected by motel industry standards. The room was not in good cosmetic condition, there was too much wear and tear without work to resolve. Finally, the TV was small and difficult to operate (without written instructions left in the room) and I could not select things that were available or see/view exactly what programs were available.

Needs major upgrades.

The best feature was the friendly front office host. Also, it was a little bit away from the highway, so quiet

− Gaps below the exterior doors allowed in the cold wind. Tiny pillows and a thin blanket. No extras in cabinets. Toilet was hard to flush and had a water puddle next to it in the morning.
