Our stay at Ytri Árbakki was absolutely amazing! From the moment we arrived, the owner welcomed us personally, was incredibly kind, and immediately made us feel at home. The cottage has everything you could possibly need. It is fully equipped with all the facilities and household items, and we didn't miss a single thing. The view is simply breathtaking. This was the first place where I could genuinely imagine myself living one day—a beautiful, authentic Icelandic cottage overlooking the ocean. I noticed some reviews mentioning shared facilities, so I'd like to clarify this. The accommodation is one cottage with a living room, kitchen, bathroom, and two bedrooms. It is perfect for families or friends traveling together. If you book only one room, the owner may rent the other room separately, making it more like a B&B with shared kitchen and bathroom facilities. However, this is clearly explained on the Booking.com page. We booked both bedrooms, so we had the entire cottage to ourselves, and it was absolutely perfect. Out of our 9-day trip and 9 different accommodations, this was by far the best stay and the best place we experienced. I would highly recommend staying here, even if you weren't originally planning to stop in this area. The cottage itself is worth the detour. It is beautiful, romantic, full of family history, and has so much character. We will never forget our stay here.

Beautiful location and fabulously equipped house

Great view of the water and birds!

− It was shared with another group of travelers, who are strangers to us. This was a surprise! It was not advertised as a hostel or shared accommodation. There’s only one bathroom for two parties, we had share bath towels! The owner was not on property. And told us only the day of that we would be sharing it with other people.

A well-sized two-room apartment featuring a very spacious common area that includes a living room, a seating area, and a well-equipped kitchen. The apartment is tastefully designed and filled with light. Above all, there is the ocean view; the apartment is located right on the beach, and the view is breathtaking. We really loved the apartment.
