Had a very pleasant stay

We had a good experience staying at BillAria. The apartment was clean, and spacious for three people, probably fine for four. The fridge was adequate and had an icebox for small purchases. The kitchen area was big enough to prepare food in. The washing machine, clothes horse and iron/ironing board meant that we did not have to bring too many clothes: things could be washed in the morning and put on the balcony and they would be dry by lunchtime (the balcony is in the sun am, but shaded in the afternoon). For those who don’t like to do laundry, there is a *lot* of wardrobe and drawer space. The air conditioning worked fine, which we were grateful for in the summer temperatures. The bathroom was clean and modern., and plenty of towels were provided. The shower does not have a bracket to attach the head to the wall, so you have to soap yourself and rinse by holding the shower head. This did not bother us as we simply used the shower as a place to get clean at the end of each day rather than as a half hour leisure activity. It’s probably a good thing in terms of saving water. Shower gel and handwash is provided by the owner, but bring a mini bottle of shampoo, or visit the supermarket (Lidl is 17 minutes on foot or there are three branches of Xalxiadis within 15 minutes). The Morosini fountain in the centre of town is 10 minutes away, so the location is really good. Busses to Knossos, Amnissos and the airport can be caught on Evans street just round the corner. Leratou itself is a narrow quiet cul-de-sac. The surrounding houses are owned by locals, most of whom have cars, so parking is very limited. Again, this did not bother us as we were not driving. Overall, if we came back to Heraklion, we would not bother looking for a different place to stay but would just book this place again.
