Good but not great
7.0Great location right on the beach. We looked at other places and Posada Chikiluky seemed to be the best for the price. There was a comfy seating area outside of our room. There were lots of lounge chairs with umbrellas on the beach.
− The shower consisted of a pipe that came out of the wall with no shower head on it. The restaurant was not consistently open, but the food was good. They charge you for a five minute boat ride from the main beach to their location, which they should offer for free. Otherwise it's a 20 minute walk along the beach in the hot sun. Baru in general is overrated. A nice beach but too many boats and jet skis that don't stay outside of the designated swimming areas. Food and drinks are expensive
No can’t back, never.
3.0The breakfast ok. Front to the beach.
− The sheets smell bad. The towels old.
Very good
8.0The staff is very friendly and accomadating they provide tours and meals for purchase. Breakfast is free. The tours are fairly priced and the food is tasty. For things like icecreams, ceviche & fruit cups there are vendors that pass by that you can buy from. I recommend you bring snacks, and water or juice, just to have it handy. Please note electricity is from 6pm to about 6-7am after that no electricity so bring a power bank or portable battery if you need electricity outside those hours. The shower in islands generally don't have pressure & its not copous amounts of water just enough to clean the essentials. My stay in Colombia is for 10 days so I got a cheap SIMS card and prepaid plan so I can have data and use the internet outside my hotel room for about $9 USD with Claro mobile. Just remember to log into your hotels WIFI to preserve data
− In general staying on island has water, plumbing or electrical issues or restrictions. In a lot of cases its a generator thing or a matter of refilling their water tanks. Nothing that reflects poorly on Chikiluky. I will say their toilets flush well. And I've stayed on a few islands. As for electrical restriction I will say that after 7am your fan will stop working so your room will get really hot if its not a room with a balcony facing the ocean at least you'll get natural breeze in that case and not like me where I needed my fan.
I would not ever stay here again but it was the ONLY beautiful beach I saw in Cartagena
5.0I really liked the beach, the food & drinks, the helpful staff, everyone was super friendly & even the cab driver was great. I loved Matias the parrot/bird. I LOVED the beds were super comfy, I was very pleasantly surprised.
− Balcony room was more private but I did not like my room from the back at ALL. There was a generator that was so loud (I’m glad I had ear plugs & the bed was good or I would have left) there should be mosquito repellent for sale. Only one flush of toilet is provided, awful. I could see the bottom room through cracks & the crack on the door didn’t allow me to walk around naked bc people in the terrace could see me.
Horrible. I wouldn’t stay there again for free but paid way too much.
2.0Oceanfront was nice but the boats coming in and out spray gas fumes into the air which takes away from the charm. Coffee in the morning was good. The women who work the place are genial. The scarlet macaw that visits.
− Sheets had blood stains and the pillows were garbage Room was subpar for the price we paid (60 usd but room should have been 25-30 TOPS) Breakfast was really flat and usually cold You have to bale your own water to flush the toilet The electricity was off from 6 am to 6 pm so no fans during the day but the lights outside stay on all night hampering sleep. The wifi is terrible The service was ridiculously bad because the men mostly sit around trying to get you to buy tours while the women do all the work. Just a gross place put together like a child’s tree house.
Luis helped us get a taxi and boat ride to Baru. He brought us a fan which is great because I prefer one to sleep at nig
10.0Luis was very helpful with our 2 night stay. We really enjoyed our time at posada chikiluky and would definitely stay there again!
