The homestay next door, Eco Lodge is probably the best thing about this property

− I don’t usually write negative reviews. I always assume that just because I didn’t enjoy a place doesn’t mean others won’t have a completely different experience. However, this time I feel I have to share my experience. If this review helps even one traveler avoid the disappointing stay we had, it’s worth writing. The guesthouse is located on a steep hillside, so every trip in or out requires a fairly challenging climb. When it rains, it becomes even more difficult. That wasn’t even our main issue. The guesthouse is run by a man in his late 30s, usually with his young daughter (around 13–14 years old) helping around the property. Communication is extremely difficult and relies almost entirely on Google Translate. Even then, it often seemed that he struggled to read the Vietnamese translation, and when communication did succeed, our requests were frequently ignored or misunderstood. For example, we ordered one iced coffee with milk and another iced black coffee. Instead, we were served two half-filled cups of hot filter coffee. After two nights we asked for our room to be cleaned. It never was. Breakfast was included in our booking, but we never received it. Most of the time there was nobody at reception and nobody in the restaurant. The property felt as though it was operating with minimal staff. As a guest, it was nearly impossible to get assistance, ask questions, or receive recommendations for the area. I also wasn’t confident about the cleanliness of the room or the bedding. I honestly couldn’t tell whether the sheets had been washed between guests, so I ended up sleeping inside my own sleeping bag liner that I had brought for trekking. On the morning of our last day, we met the female owner for the first time. She apologized for the poor experience and explained that she and her family had been dealing with personal matters and therefore were unable to properly look after their guests.

L’endroit est bien placé, la fenêtre offrait une belle vue sur les rizières. La chambre était spacieuse. Les propriétaires sont sympathiques.

− Lorsque je suis arrivé, aucun des propriétaires n’étaient présents à part leur fille qui devait avoir probablement 15 ans. Aucun repas ni boissons possible dans le homestay contrairement à ce qui était indiqué sur l’annonce. Lorsqu’il a plus à torrent le soir, j’ai dû marcher loin dans la nuit sous l’orage pour pouvoir manger quelque part. Ma chambre était pleine d’insectes ( mort ou vivants). Je l’ai notifié à la propriétaire lorsqu’elle est arrivé. Elle m’a donné un spray anti insectes mais n’a pas pris la peine d’enlever les cadavres de cafard ou de mouches. Je sais qu’il est normal qu’il y est des insectes à la campagne, mais ça ne m’est pas arrivé dans tout les autres lieux où j’ai séjourné dans la campagne pendant 1 mois au Vietnam. Les propriétaires n’acceptent pas le payement par carte bancaire et il n’y a aucun lieu de retrait dans le village. Cependant, la propriétaire a été sympa et m’a fait payer moins cher car je n’avais pas assez d’argent en espèces. Mais il fallait le notifier dès le départ je pense.

Het uitzicht is adembenemend, mooier wordt het niet. De familie die de homestay openhoudt is enorm vriendelijk en behulpzaam, ze hielpen ons bij het vinden van een lokale gids/ taxi.
