Great room with nice hosts. Made my stay comfortable particularly after I booked last minute

Plenty of coffee and tea in a very nice setup and yogurt with bottled water in the little refrigerator. Keurig, water kettle and microwave were also provided as well as a few snacks.

− "Breakfast" was a sandwich and pasta left in the refrigerator. The food was of the packaged vending machine variety. Nothing wrong with the food, but not really what I would call a breakfast, and the first morning it was late. The no shoes policy should be clearly displayed before booking, and the obnoxious sign on the front porch announcing said policy should be removed. The bed was comfortable but was a box spring and mattress set on the floor, no bed frame and extremely low. Unable to receive Paypal or Credit card for the $150 deposit. I had to go to an ATM to get cash. They only do Zelle, which is very narrow from a vendor/merchant. Their lack of options was my inconvenience and check in was not allowed until I had returned with the cash. The host had limited ability in English, but was very nice. Many rules! The TV in my room was programmed in Mandarin, and made viewing impossible the first night. The host changed the settings for me late on the second night.

The property is well maintained, bathroom was clean, and overall the vibe was very welcoming. NoHo is great area and the neighborhood was pleasantly quiet. The bedroom was excellent.. there was a mini fridge (which was much appreciated since one of the MANY rules at this property is that the kitchen is 100% OFF LIMITS) The room came equipped with a smart tv and a MASSIVE walk-in closet! My absolute favorite part here was the bed! Let me tell you simply saying that it was comfortable just doesn't suffice for how I felt about this bed, It was absolutely divine. It felt like I was sleeping on cotton candy! 10/10

− So overall my stay was great.. my only concern was that the host seemed to be VERY upset with me for locking the front door (apparently at some point in the morning another guest wasn't able to get inside the property with the code due to me locking the bolt lock on the front door) I also received a total of 2 phone calls and 3 text messages from the host that I had not seen until several hours later.. <**Now keep in mind, I am a very DEEP sleeper so text messages and calls are not going to wake me up (unless I preset my phone to loud) especially when there is no outlet near the bed and the only place that I can charge my phone is across the room… so, that.. along with the fact that I intentionally set my phone to vibrate so that l can sleep in and not be disturbed by the dozens of calls and texts that I get.. I obviously wasn’t able to answer the hosts calls or texts until several hours later> Now upon waking up, I was embarrassed to find that the host had texted me 3 times and called me twice. As I began reading the texts I realized that it was basically expected of me to have known NOT to lock the door and I felt like I was a child like I should have known better and that paired with the host demanding that I get up immediately and unlock the front door or he would involve the authorities.. ugh to say the least I was MORTIFIED. The entire thing was EXTREMELY UNCOMFORTABLE It was like “how dare I lock the front door?! what on earth was I thinking locking up before bed?!” And in the last message I was LITERALLY told that the cops would be called if I didn't wake up and unlock the door at once.. now unfortunately I didn't wake up until several hours later and by then I believe that they were able to sort out the issue.. In my defense, it’s not like I was even told beforehand not to lock the front door so.. how could I have possibly known that it would cause such a huge problem?!

Stylish and Comfortable Place for a Good Value

The apartment matches the pictures. It’s well decorated and clean. The bathroom is big and the shower is huge. The host is super friendly and eager to accommodate. There is a nice little selection of snacks and comfortable places to hang out in the common areas. I don’t know North Hollywood well but the area felt safe and was quiet. At the time of writing, the price and value were very good.

− My only real gripe is that the host doesn’t make payment easy. Either you pay by Zelle in advance or by cash, which requires meeting in person. Considering the bad review over a deposit, I was sure there would be some 'issue. 'I was given a final total on Booking.com and then told the next day there was an extra $50 New Year’s fee. This led to a somewhat hostile exchange of texts (I must confess on my part) but the host does seem to have made an honest mistake. Still, I would suggest to the host to do all financials through Booking until there are enough good reviews that paying in advance doesn't seem like a risk. Small thing - while there is a kitchen there, you can’t use it or at least there is a big 'do not enter' sign sitting on a table that blocks the entryway. A mini fridge would be nice in the common area maybe for milk or yogurt.
