Harbour Hideaway - St Monans

We had a fantastic time and hope to return to the East Neuk soon.

The location is stunning and the cottage is beautiful with a friendly vibe. We appreciated the teas and coffees left for us and the useful information folder. We were happy to be in an upside down house, though we did occasionally have to remind ourselves! It was nice to have two bathrooms, though it meant going upstairs for two of the sleepers. The Harbour Food shop nearby has fabulous bread, among other things.

− The key safe is a little tricky as the push down button is quite tight and we got confused when we saw there was another one at the bottom of the door (that should be ignored). But we worked it out between us. There was a strange noise associated with water in the bathroom of the master bedroom (possibly a macerator?) but it all seemed ok and the shower was great. We couldn't find the recycling bins. No major problems though.

− Only two dishwasher tablets for a 4 day stay Mattress in ensuite was not v comfortable

A nicely furnished apartment 30m from St Monans harbour. Access was straightforward with the key box coded emailed to me. You can't park directly outside but there were aways available spaces nearby (in November - it may be more difficult in summer?) Upstairs there's a large living/dining room with a 6 person dining table, a second small living room (with a second TV) and a bathroom. The kitchen is fairly well equipped and there is a dishwasher and washing machine. We had a problem with a leak under the kitchen sink which we immediately reported to the management - a plumber arrived within half an hour and returned with the parts to fix it a couple of hours later. Downstairs there are three double bedrooms, one with a good size ensuite. Decoration was tasteful throughout. St Monans is an attractive place to walk around and there are a couple of small shops and cafes. In the small industrial estate at the top of the hill near the main road there are a few seafood suppliers - great places to get your dinner ingredients!

− The beds are rather hard, not the comfiest!

Property was lovely and warm for us coming in. Very cosy and clean and tastefully decorated. Kitchen fully equipped with everything you could imagine. Great location, peaceful.

− Check-in was late at 4 pm, and check out early at 10. Although you can pay a premium to extend, we felt property was already expensive enough. An extra hour is normal for other accommodations..
