The Best of Kariba
9.0Waking up to elephants, watching hippos in the water, and spotting crocodiles along the shoreline made this an unforgettable Kariba safari experience.
− The stay was too short, we wished we had booked another night!

10.0Hippo Paradise is one of those rare places where luxury and raw wilderness exist side by side. Waking up in a beautifully appointed chalet while being surrounded by untouched bush on one side and the mighty Zambezi River on the other was an experience I'll never forget. The contrast was simply magical. Lying in bed at night, I could hear lions roaring in the distance, birds singing at dawn, frogs calling from the riverbanks, and the sudden grunts of hippos echoing through the darkness. It felt like I was living in the heart of nature without sacrificing an ounce of comfort. One of the highlights was fishing straight from the river and enjoying my fresh catch for dinner the very same day. There is something incredibly satisfying about eating fish you caught yourself while overlooking one of Africa's greatest rivers. The staff deserve special mention. They were genuinely warm, cheerful and always eager to help, making every moment feel effortless and welcoming. Their hospitality added so much to an already unforgettable stay. Hippo Paradise is far more than a place to sleep, it's an experience that immerses you in Africa's wilderness while surrounding you with comfort, tranquillity and exceptional hospitality. If you're looking for the perfect blend of adventure, relaxation and luxury, this is a destination you simply have to experience.
− My only complaint is one that no lodge can fix; time moves too fast in paradise. Having to pack up and leave such an incredible place was the hardest part of the entire experience.
The rooms need a serious health and safety check however very spacious and comfortable beds.
4.0The view was great as you had access to view the hippos walking at night only. The lake is very low so seeing hippos during the day is not possible. We had a great view of the hippos at night. The girls had a great torch which allowed us a great view to the hippos. That was definitely the highlight of the experience. The quad bikes was definitely a big plus but prices for 15 minutes was very high. The girls cooked amazing food and just couldn't do enough. Panashe was very professional and made us feel very welcome and even joining us to a little dance. The young team on site were great. They greeted us nicely and felt welcome.
− This lodge is lacking love. The room had lots of geckos, we found scorpions and lizards inside the room. The rooms should have been checked before we arrived. There was no shower heads and pressure in the rooms. The decking outside the room is extremely dangerous and is so fragile its ready to break and injure someone badly. Plugs are hanging off the walls and just very dangerous. Laundry service was expensive and very poor.
