A Home Away from Home – with a Touch of Irish Magic

Cuan na bPíobairí was one of the highlights of my trip to Ireland. From the moment Barbara and Lorenzo welcomed me through the door, I felt less like a guest and more like an old friend calling in for a chat. The accommodation itself was excellent. The room was spotless, the bed wonderfully comfortable, the location was perfect for exploring the Westmeath/Midlands area, and the morning started with a superb breakfast, after Lorenzo's invitation to the continental breakfast bar... "Walk-away!"—an expression that quickly became part of my Irish vocabulary as I happily helped myself. What really sets this place apart, though, are the hosts. Barbara is warm and welcoming, while Lorenzo is an absolute fountain of knowledge. Whether it was the history of Westmeath, hidden gems in the local area, Irish culture, the language, or the wider history of Ireland (and often well beyond), every conversation was fascinating. Breakfast was never just breakfast—it was an hour of stories, humour, recommendations and insights that genuinely enriched my trip. Thanks to Lorenzo, I also found myself caught up in the excitement surrounding Gaelic football and hurling during my stay. His explanations of the rivalries, traditions and sheer passion for the games transformed them from sports I barely knew into something I was genuinely following with interest. You can't bottle that kind of local knowledge—it comes from living it. There's an old Irish saying that "there are no strangers here, only friends you haven't yet met," and Cuan na bPíobairí captures that spirit perfectly. Between the warm hospitality, the comfortable accommodation, the great breakfasts and the endless good craic around the breakfast table, it became far more than just somewhere to sleep. It was the heart of my Irish adventure, and I left with wonderful memories, a smile on my face, and a feeling I'd experienced the real Ireland. Go raibh míle maith agaibh, Barbar

A delightful stay

Barbara and Lorenzo and the most fabulous hosts. I felt like one of the family. The home is warm, welcoming and spotlessly clean and tidy. The room was nicely decorated had a TV and plenty of storage. I had my own bathroom down the hall which was fine, Breakfast was 10/10 everything you needed and more. Producw was quality cooked to perfection and the company of the hosts was what made it. I can't wait to go back.

− The mattress wasn't a little uneven but not uncomfortable. I would have liked a dressing gown for the trip to the bathroom.

Ihanat ystävälliset majoittajat toivottivat lämpimästi tervetulleeksi kotiinsa. Minulla oli kaikki tarvittava ja huone oli mukava. Rauhallisella alueella, mutta ei kaukana keskustasta.
