Great Stay at AKAMBA CULTURAL CENTRE AND MUSEUM

10.0

We were a young couple and our stay at Akamba Cultural Center and Museum was truly a unique and enriching experience. The environment beautifully blends cultural heritage with comfort, offering guests a chance to connect with the rich traditions of the Akamba people. The facilities are well-maintained, clean, and thoughtfully designed with authentic cultural touches that create a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The staff are friendly, attentive, and genuinely passionate about sharing their culture, which made the experience even more memorable. One of the highlights was the museum itself, which is filled with fascinating artifacts and stories that give deep insight into Akamba history and way of life. The cultural ambiance throughout the property makes it more than just a place to stay—it feels like a journey into Kenya’s heritage. I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a peaceful, culturally immersive stay. It’s perfect for both local and international visitors who appreciate history, authenticity, and warm hospitality.

All was well just a little bit noisy church nearby

People were very nice but the place was completely uncared for ..

The forest and the birds .. it could have Bern a beautiful place, bug it was utterly unkempt and the grounds were filthy. I spent half a day just picking up bottle caps and plastic as I couldn’t bear the mess. A real shame as it had real potential…

We would stay there again. Great value.

Breakfast was quite good - they were very generous with food quantities and variety. Food was freshly prepared. Akamba dancers were exceptional and a special treat. Mr Julius was exceptionally welcoming. Josephine was also exceptional in serving us both meals. Cabin idea was great and promoting Akamba Culture is commendable. Perfect stop on way to/from Mombasa.

A bit more furniture in the room would have been great - wardrobe, two chairs, sink in tge bathroom, soap dish, towel rack. Front door can be sealed - the wife gasp was scary.

The host was very kind and extremely helpful throughout our stay. We are especially grateful for his support at the train station, which made our departure much easier. We truly appreciated his kindness and willingness to assist us whenever we needed help.

Unfortunately, our stay at the cottage was not entirely satisfactory. The cottage was not very clean. We understand that in rural areas it is normal for insects and mosquitoes to find their way into the room. However, black stains and marks inside the cottage should be properly removed as part of regular cleaning. Additionally, there was no separation between the toilet and the sleeping area in our cottage. This meant that the toilet was directly visible from the bed, which felt uncomfortable and offered no privacy. There is also a local bar right next to the cottage. Music was played there until relatively late. Moreover, due to the direct proximity to the bar, the cottage area seemed easily accessible to anyone, which may affect the sense of security. To reply to Akamba: I did not try to scam you and the review is not related to the payment issue through booking. Instead of addressing constructive criticism, responding in the manner shown below comes across as unprofessional. During our entire stay, we did not notice any cameras or security personnel. If the accommodation’s concept intentionally does not include fencing or security, that is of course perfectly acceptable. However, it would be fair and transparent to clearly communicate this to future guests, allowing them to decide for themselves whether they feel comfortable with such a concept.

民宿位于emali镇附近的一个村子,老板开车来镇上接我们,非常热情。这里有一个博物馆,可以了解当地的文化。顺便说一下,老板车上的音乐真的非常好听,可以告诉我在哪里能下载吗😄
