8.0The place is wonderful, with amazing beautiful view, a wonderful apartment. We already knew the place as we stayed there 7 years ago, and fell in love, that's why we returned this year.
− However, the apartment we received this time did not have air-condition -- despite the fact that we booked -- and paid for -- an AIRCONDITIONED apartment. This was specified in the offer which we selected and booked (exactly the same as we had in the previous time we stayed there). It was mid August and very warm and humid. When we asked the managers about it, the reply was that "you have a portable fan there"... "In Italy there is normally no air-condition"... "the former guest did not complain about it", and "we have some apartments we air-condition but there are occupied at the moment". This is not a proper way of dealing with gusts. The apartment is not inexpensive. I believe we should have been compensated
Apartment was a good base for a family holiday, however lacked the luxuries expected for such an exceptional setting
7.0Balcony views were amazing, and space inside the apartment was excellent.
− Spaces looking a little tired, air conditioning unit sitting in the middle of the living space detracts from the quality of the space. Beds unmade on arrival and some unlaundered sheets and towels left in wardrobes. Location was fine for us, however would be useful if it was advised ahead of booking that apartment was located in an elevated position above Varenna, with steep climb required if walking into town.
A deposit may be required at the property.
