Had we not already paid for it in full we would have cancelled upon arrival once seeing the location and exterior.
5.0Open floor plan and room size
− There were fruit fly type bugs all over in the kitchen and some in bathroom. Front yard had garbage and personal type garbage on it.
Was good for one night
7.0There was a wonderful coffee bar set up for us. The wifi and owner info was readily visible. The beds were really comfortable also. The price was inviting, and we appreciate the ability to arrange a last minute reservation as we were traveling across country.
− The carpet was unclean and had a sticky feel; it was uncomfortable allowing the baby to crawl around. The water coming out of the shower head sputtered the entire time, I'm unsure if it's the equipment or a water issue, though. The smoke detectors were placed in rooms on top of furniture (not on the ceiling), and one was hanging from the ceiling by the wires. But, not being from northern U.S., I don't know what the fire code is in Illinois. I would have liked some check out directions (trash, laundry, etc) to make sure I was complying with the owner's expectations as a guest in their home. This is of no fault of the owners, but the neighborhood felt very unsafe for me and my kids- perhaps the fact we arrived so late, we arrived at midnight, there were several groups of people gathered outside and they were very loud including yelling negatively at others. Maybe the consideration of adding more outdoor lights could help guests feel safer.
Garbage
1.0Nothing. While I booked the house for a night, I spoke to the host about extending he wanted me to send him the money via PayPal. It gave very scandal, very sticky situation. The house didn’t leave me any room to feel comfortable. I would not advise. Scandals.
− The fact that the host asked me to send him the money PayPal for extra night is crazy not only is he taking the money from booking, but he’s trying to swindle situations. An untrustworthy man.
