Due to false advertisement this apartment is a money grab scam and is not up to health standards.
2.0The location was nice, however there was a big inconvenience caused by construction being done on the street right in front of the apartment. Every morning we awakened by loud bangs and power tools drilling into the concrete. The lobby of the building was dirty consistently as well.
− Throughout the entire stay, the apartment was falling apart. When I first came, I saw a hole in the ceiling by the window unit and I thought that they had to have water damage. I was correct to assume so, after further exploration into the Room on the left hand side, there was a big leak coming from the ceiling that had a hole that was dripping water onto the floor the entire stay. There was also black mold coming from the hole & there was mold around the bathroom from it being so hot and wet in the apartment . The washer & dryer stopped working with a load in there and we could not get it out. Also, The kitchen cabinet door kept falling off . The sheets were dirty and the fire alarm in the house kept blaring early in the mornings, waking us up at 1:41 on the second night. I ended up having to stand on a chair to take them off and I purchased new batteries for them.
The ceiling leaked
2.0− The actual location of the apartment proved to be few streets uptown than the offer showed (further from the subway station). The information about the lock box that I received before check-in were completely wrong - the lock box was located in a different place than the instruction showed. I had to search for the lock box on the street at 1 am in the morning (our plane was late and it was when we arrived). The instruction concerning the keys were opaque - whenever the instruction said counterclockwise the key turned clockwise etc. The wi-fi password did not work. The ceiling started leaking halfway through the stay and when I contacted the host, instead of a reaction, they asked for a picture! The general cleanliness of the apartment was really poor.
Underwhelming.
4.0This apartment has some serious drawbacks to be aware of. It clearly hadn’t been cleaned properly before our arrival – the bathroom floor had visible hair, including pubic hair, which was unacceptable. The towel rail in the bathroom was broken, the soap dispensers were empty, and there were no hand towels or a bath mat provided. The shower also didn’t drain properly, leaving us standing in ankle-deep water. The kitchen was poorly equipped: no toaster, no pot large enough to boil pasta, and the only dish cloth/scourer looked like it had been used on the floor and left behind. The dishwasher was useful, but there was no dishwashing powder provided. We also had repeated issues with the keys – both to the main entrance and the apartment itself – which were difficult to unlock and remove. The WiFi was essentially unusable, slow and unreliable even for basic browsing. The apartment was noisy at night, so light sleepers should bring earplugs. While we never felt completely unsafe, be aware this is Harlem, not the Upper East Side — it has a different feel, so adjust expectations accordingly. On the positive side, the washer and dryer worked well, and the location was relatively convenient. The 110th St subway station is within walking distance, and there’s a grocery store nearby. If you plan to cook, just be sure to check the kitchen setup before buying ingredients. Overall, this stay didn’t meet our expectations, but it didn’t ruin our trip. We loved our time in New York — we just wouldn’t stay at this apartment again.
Passable
5.0This place had everything we needed—a well-stocked kitchen, fresh linens, a washer/dryer, dishwasher, and more. The hosts were friendly and responded quickly to every question.
− The property had several issues: there were leaks in the ceiling, the actual location did not match the one advertised on Booking (which felt dishonest), and the neighborhood was extremely noisy. This significantly impacted our stay.
The place is good but the address does not match
6.0The address is not the correct one, the host did not answer our calls
Terrible all round
2.0Almost nothing
− The location is not as stated and is in an area that did not feel safe, in Harlem. The wifi did not work for 2 days and the host was not able to provide me with the correct login details for the entire time. The lack of control of heating meant the apartment was very hot, despite it being cold outside. The street was so loud, with a corner store underneath and a busy road on the corner and we all struggled to sleep. The apartment is also much smaller than it appears. Things were broken, including the mirror in the bathroom entirely missing, the towel rail totally detached and stains all over the walls.
