Worst staff we've ever seen in our life !

4.0

Great location Can see the monkeys in the tree from the room Quiet place

Where should I start ? - First, there was nobody to carry our luggage in the location of the guest house (200 stairs to climb) even if I asked them through Booking (payable accomodation to do so). - The staff was totally inexistant. We arrived at 9 PM in a heavy rain, only one man was at the house, sleeping in his hamac, quite disturbed by our arrival, and stoned. - The guest house was kind of dirty, the bathroom especially with many stains everywhere. The shower didn't have hot water (it's fine) but also no pressure at all. Kinda annoying after climbing 200 stairs in the hot Sumatra's weather. - We didn't have any breakfast even if we paid for it, because the man who was there slept every morning. (To be fair he asked us one time which time we want our breakfast, then forget it the morning after) - One night we had a big electricity shortage in all the village. We were completely in the dark in our room, isolated from the world. No generator, no candles, and nobody asked us how it was after more than 2 hours ! No battery either so we had to go to the village seeking help. Our time there in Bukit Lawang was almost wasted by the mediocrity of the staff. Fortunately, the people from Bukit Lawang Tour (Trekking in the jungle) were AMAZING. They help us with our luggages when we came (even if it wasn't their responsibility), give us food and battery during the electric shortcut... Conclusion : Don't go there, this place has potential, but the lack of professionalism and cleanliness almost ruin our time there, if we hadn't have the staff from Bukit Lawang Tour.

This is a big charming, wooden house unlike anything else we saw in Bukit Lawang. It’s beautiful and has a lot of character. The location is great, up many stairs but it’s worth it. Close to nearby restaurants and ‘Jack’s Bar’ which we loved for live music and awesome cocktails in a real jungle setting. The staff are so lovely and helped us with everything we needed, they organised a trek into the jungle for us and a day trip to their conservation site where we saw lots of orangutans. Banana pancakes for breakfast were so delicious too, thank you Ridho! Highly recommend staying here!
