Modern 1 bedroom apartment♡

Pleasant apartment in a large block with plenty of parking but with some niggles.

Quiet apartment within 10 minutes walk of the shops and restaurants. Nice and light in the daytime given the side aspect windows. The rooms are a good size with a large modern TV, bluetooth speaker and nicely decorated shower-room. Great to have a spacious off-road car park. Contrary to the information on booking.com there is a microwave and also a lift which I only discovered after lugging heavy bags up the stairs! The apartment was warm enough that I didn't need to put the heating on even in Feb but it was good to know it was there if I had needed it. Great to have a toaster, cooker, large fridge freezer and even a washer if I'd needed it. There are several sockets available for chargers etc including next to the bed. Lots of kitchen rolls & toilet rolls were provided along with washing up liquid and sponges, bin bags, baking parchment and also a jar of coffee although I'd brought my own. The use of a door code rather than a key made it easy to arrive & depart although I was expecting the room code to be sent to me on the day of arrival and as I was around 2 hours from check-in time I was getting a little concerned so sent a message to request it. Fortunately, I received the code shortly after that.

− There was a strong and strange smell in the shower room when I got there but it eventually dissipated over the next couple of days. The hot water is scaldingly hot which I found out to my cost the first time I ran a tap. To be fair these things may be down to the apartment block owner rather than the apartment host but I recommend signs about the water temperature because I genuinely scalded my fingers on my first evening there. The towels were a bit old and stiff and the shower pressure isn't great. The bed and sofa were not as comfortable as I've had in other apartments but still fine for my needs. The blinds in the bed room are bent and let a lot of light in - there's no curtains to back them up. There was no soap or shampoo which is normally provided and may catch some people out but fortunately I had some with me. Sadly there was no corkscrew in the utensil drawer so I couldn't relax with a glass of wine on my first evening and had to go and buy one the next day which I will probably never use again. There was old, out-of-date milk in the fridge when I arrived. As I was travelling for work I requested an invoice from the host to claim expenses who said she wasn't able to provide one - this surprised me as every other host I've used (and there's many) have always been able to do this. I'm hoping my company will accept the booking confirmation from Booking.com otherwise I will be extremely out-of-pocket.

Needed something for 7 weeks, handy to commute to work. Waiting on new build to be finished. First time of not having any key's to open door? Still very good.
