Disappointing return visit
5.0General appearance in public areas of hotel were nice and well kept. Restaurant/bar area is nice.
− Room was very outdated. I have stayed a few times before and I felt the room we were in was a lot smaller than usual. We were placed in a disabled room but nothing could be done as they were fully booked. Room itself has very little facilities, one plug to share between us both which isnt great when youve got two phones to charge, hair straighteners to use etc. TV was old, need smart tvs. Most travel lodge and premier inn rooms now offer these things and this is supposed to be a four star hotel. Mattresses were very hard and beds themselves not in great condition. Only plus side was room was clean and air conditioning was good to have. Staff I spoke to were not particularly helpful. Asked about hotel entrance to park and a slip was signed and thrown at me without a word. I asked where we needed to go and he just pointed, got there and there was in fact no entrance open so had to walk anyway. Being charged £40 for two nights parking is robbery and should be included as standard or £10 maximum. What is worse is that guests who didnt book directly through the site get charged double which is unjustified. We parked in a car park over the road and walked across and it was cheaper than even what was payable if booked directly, just no justification for those prices at all. Had always enjoyed my stays in past and had great service but this time I felt massively let down.

− I was in a family room. I paid approx 250 gbp for a night. The property was not value for money as the bunk beds for kids were not comfortable at all. The rooms were too noisy because of the rides from 8am you cannot sleep any longer. The toilet supplies were very small in size. It was too pricey for what they have to offer!

8.0We arrived early and the staff were really helpful putting our luggage in the store then super helpful at checkin later on. Plenty of parking and right next to a train station. Room was lovely, clean and spacious.

Please note the hotel does not accommodate single-sex groups or parties of over 3 rooms or more. The maximum number of adults in any one room is 2. Reservations over 31 December and 1 January will be on a bed and breakfast basis only, entertainment and dinner are not included. Any type of extra bed or baby cot is upon request and needs to be confirmed by the hotel. All guests under the age of 18 years must be accompanied in room by minimum of one adult aged 18 or over. Please note that when booking ten rooms or more, different policies and supplements may apply. Please note the parking fee is GBP20 per vehicle per night (12:00 midday - 12:00 midday). The hotel does not accept prepayment for reservations within three days of arrival date. Guests must be 18 years or older to stay in a Suite. All bedrooms, meeting rooms and public areas are nonsmoking - a minimum £300.00 cleaning charge is applicable for smoking in guestrooms. Big Blue Hotel operates cashless throughout the hotel, most major credit/debit cards are accepted at reception and in the Bar & Restaurant. Guests under the age of 18 can only check in with a parent or official guardian.
