Exceptional
10.0The owner is super nice and friendly. He will sit and talk and drink beer with you and make you feel at home. It really is a homestay - his family is around and his kids are so cute running around.
− Toilet doesn’t flush very well
Very good
8.0As far removed from other tourists as you can get. Cheap and very backpacker. Friendly staff. You're practically living in a cambodian farm yard with fields on the doorstep.
− No real complaints, just managing expectations. My room could have been be a little more finished. The guy is doing it up as he makes money, so staying there helps him do this and it didn't bother me. Difficult to locate on Google maps for your driver. Make sure you contact the place in advance for best directions.
Great homestay and culture experience!
9.0Monyharch and his family are extremely kind and welcoming. We had a short but very nice time here! We learned a lot about Khmer culture and history and Monyharch was very patient in answering all our questions. The location is also beautiful, surrounded by the rice fields and the friendly villagers. We did a (vegetarian) Khmer cooking class and this was a great experience! We also enjoyed the hikes through the village/rice fields and the morning jogging together with Monyharch a lot! Lastly, the silk farm is very interesting to learn about and you can easily get there by foot.
− Not a negative, just a tip for others: Keep in mind that every activity comes with a price (which is totally understandable, since it costs Monyharch time and money!!). However, we are traveling for a long period and our budget isn’t too big. Therefore we decided to choose just one activity (which was a lot of fun for us, and hopefully also supported Monyharch a little bit). Just communicate beforehand what you would like to do and what your budget is, then you’ll have a great time!!
It's worth the room price if you find your own ways for food and drinks and transport.
8.0That it was in a village 30 mins away from centre, 2 sides were surrounded by rice fields, 1 side was owners mother's garden and 1 side was a small dirt road. The room was spacious and clean. We rented a motorbike from the center and went around freely.
− Bathroom was still concrete but clean. The decorative plants were mostly dead in the room. The garden was not kept clean and tidy. Breakfast was given most of the time cold even though the time for breakfast was fixed. Once we asked for dinner for 2 people (3$ each) and we received 1 portion of cold food with omlete. And we paid 6$. He is asking too much money for the food he doesn't even have a proper portion and doesn't serve warm food. He is asking 1$ for 1,5 l. bottle of water which you can get 6 bottles for 2$ in the village mart. We found these behaviours not so positive. He should improve these points.
Passable
