A comfortable property in a convenient location that worked perfectly for our family trip.

10.0

The property was spacious, clean, and very comfortable for our group. The bedrooms were well presented, the beds were comfortable, and the house had everything we needed for a three-night stay. The location was excellent for visiting Bath and Longleat

Nothing significant — overall we were very happy with the property and had a really enjoyable stay.

It was a good location for what we came here for visiting Longleat, Bath, Bristol & Local Visit. This Location was self Catering.

There was nothing we did not like about the stay at this property.

Nice cosy home from home, near Bath and lovely villages

8.0

The location for visiting Bath was great and saved us the huge expense of staying in the city. The local area was quiet but we enjoyed the museum and local pub. The next village was really lovely and only a few minutes in the car. The property itself was in generally good condition with plenty of space for our family group of 4 adults and 2 children. The property owner was incredibly kind to forward on a bag of items I'd left behind and I thought this was so kind! Off road parking was such a bonus but it was also a quiet road so even if you had more than 2 cars for a larger group you would be fine. Hanging rails in each room was nice so not having to live out of the suitcase. Plenty of hot water and good pressure even in the top floor bathroom. Good kitchen facilities and plenty of room to put our shopping away and cook our meals. Comfortable double beds, without foot ends (always important for my tall husband) Bathrooms were all clean, plenty of towels, hand soap and loo roll.

I want to leave these notes as points for improvement, not complaints as it was all fine for us and we managed to work around imperfections. 2 of the showers in the en-suites only had hot water, turning the tap down made no difference, so hot they could not be used. We could not get the bath tap to swap from the shower to fill the bath so had to hold the shower head to fill it. Cleaning could be to a slightly higher standard but mostly it was good. Some kitchen cupboards had sticky residue in when we arrived. Cobwebs inside some of the windows. Second bedroom door didn't have a working latch so didn't close completely and had damaged where it had been swung into the wall behind. Not enough seating in the living room for our group of 6, definitely would not be enough for 8

Comfortable beds. Big bedrooms, easily sleep 8 adults. Large kitchen. Dining table fits 8. Very clean. We had a small issue with the electrics while we were there but the host fixed it quickly.

Not a dislike but lounge only has 2 3 seater sofas and so a couple more comfortable chairs may be good in there.

Good communications, easy check-in and check out. Good parking for two cars

The biggest problem was spurious electrical trips and small appliances. First the kettle didn't work on arrival, so water had to be boiled in a pot on the hob. After contact with the owner, the kettle was eventually replaced later the next day. However at breakfast, when using the toaster, the kitchen sockets tripped. On checking the distribution board all circuit breakers were good. So, I had to contact the owner again on day 2, only to establish there was a second breaker box, hidden behind an access panel above the washing machine. On being directed to this, I found the circuit breaker had tripped. Once reset, everything except the hob worked - (the hob remained inoperable for the remainder of our stay). The cleaner who eventually brought a replacement kettle could not get the hob to work either. She also highlighted it was notoriously temperamental, and there was a known socket in the kitchen which was prone to cause tripping if used. We also encountered problems with dimmer switches in two of the bedrooms which when switched on, were difficult to control and switch off (they seemed to have a mind of their own to be fair). When we eventually got them switched off, we reverted to use of bedside lamps, as these had simple on / off switches. Overall the accommodation is comfortable, clean and spacious, but for a group of 6 adults and 2 children, it was annoying, and slightly concerning to have to address electrical faults, inoperable appliances and hidden circuit breakers over the course and duration of our rental. This detracted from an otherwise good and comfortable stay, and was particularly inconvenient for us with children staying in the property. In the interests of guest comfort, and (potentially electrical safety ?) I would recommend the owner undertake checks on the hob functionality, kitchen / dining room small appliances and sockets, and also replaces defective bedroom dimmer switches.
