The property is well laid out and reasonably appointed. It is in a great location.

− Complete lack of cleanliness. The fridge and microwave had food spills in them and the floors and work surfaces were filthy. We managed to get the floors mopped which helped but there were coffee stains all over the doors and walls upstairs and hair over the shower walls. Broken glass bottles over the floor in small courtyard to the rear. Also, we were bitten by bedbugs!

Great location, walking distance to beach.

− Bed in the main bedroom was very uncomfortable. Not particularly clean and missing a lot of essentials for example hand soap in the bathrooms, washing up liquid etc and not well equipped. Luckily we had read other reviews so we knew to bring a lot of our own kitchen stuff. Front steps were broken, so was the shower head and the heating didn’t work so wouldn’t recommend in the colder months. Could be really lovely if it was better looked after!

Great location and comfortable lodge. Would stay there again

− Didn’t have all you need in the Kitchen - lack of glasses, no wine glasses, no chopping board. Could have been a bit cleaner- rubbish under sofa cushions and a destroyed dog ball under the coffee table. There was also a random bag of rubbish by the back door but the hosts very quickly dealt with that. Front steps do need sorting out!

Great place and used to sleep as went off exploring daily so was perfect for us all.

The house was lovely and so close to our favourite place Porthtowan and a lovely size for me the kids and the dog.

− Needed a space to let the dog out that was safe, however we walked him up to the grass each morning and night once back.

Has the potential to be a really lively place to stay - could do with some personal touches

For access to Porthtowan beach was great - it’s a lovely, beautiful beach, with great north Cornwall waves. Coming back does mean a climb up a steep (but relatively short) hill.

− The place just felt un-loved. Bare minimum of facilities, and no personal touches. In other places we’ve stayed in Cornwall you really feel that you’re staying in a home from home, which is really loved by the owners. Not the case here. Very basic facilities, and very few drinking glasses - please invest in some more. Also, we booked this house because of the hot tub, but it was unfortunately broken prior to our arrival. Understand these things happen, but hearing the neighbours all enjoying theirs didn’t help our disappointment. We had a shower leak when we were there - it’s clearly leaked before so either hasn’t been previously reported, not been seen to or poorly fixed. Broken shower fixing in the en suite, which meant the shower was permanently on the lowest position. Poorly fixed steps up to the property - regular rises on each step. It had three toilets, but the sanitary ware was very basic. All in all, disappointing.
