Excellent stay everything we needed

The house is home from home with everything you can think of. Just perfect and cosy.

− We knew the location of the house but was a long walk back from open air. Nothing against the house just area bit far out

Great location, overall a lovely house but with its fair share of minor imperfections which could be easily remedied.

Great location, short stroll to South Bay. Nice decor. Big bathroom & bedrooms. Comfy beds. Free parking. Didn’t cook so can’t comment on kitchen usefulness. Letting agents are down the road and easily contactable / helpful.

− Cosmetic imperfections inc. stained carpet & stained upholstery on dressing table stool in one of the bedrooms, missing picture in same room (nails left in wall). Shower too hot and unable to alter temp, ended up using bath taps instead. Only 1 toilet roll provided & no kitchen roll. Heating left on during heatwave (we managed to switch it off following useful instructions next to thermostat). House gets very warm during hot weather, no mobile fans provided (both bedrooms do have ceiling fans but only one seems to be operable). Coffee machine provided but no coffee pods. Back yard not conducive to relaxing, needs some TLC and new furniture. House is in parking Disc Zone 3J, parking permits are for 3L, a few mins drive away. This didn’t bother us personally but could have been made clearer before arrival so we knew which streets we could park on. Q&A’s indicate parking is on Cromwell Terrace, this is incorrect. House is down a side-street off of a busy cul-de-sac, almost impossible to unload car outside but managed to park just round the corner to do so before moving cars later (you can park without permit between 5pm- 9am).

Don’t stay here, so so dirty and run down.

Initially when booking the reviews and the property looked great, unfortunately this was not the case upon our arrival.

− Upon arrival we discovered a parking permit which was for several streets away so we unpacked the car and then drove around for a good 20 minutes looking for the relevant zone, which we found approximately half a mile from the property and quite a walk. We arrived at dusk so didn’t really inspect the property only the bedding which was clean. Later in the evening we attempted to put the heating on only to discover it wasn’t working at all (my husband is an engineer we really tried!) we called the number listed and were told a new thermostat would be fitted the next day so meanwhile we used the log burner (there were no logs/kindling/lighter etc but some were brought round). That evening we went to use the oven to find it was very dirty along with the pans and cupboards which weren’t clean. The next morning (and in daylight) we were horrified to see just how dirty the property was, filthy dusty skirting boards in every room, splash marks of red wine in the bedroom on the wallpaper, in the hallway, on the curtains. The corners of every room in the property were thick with dust and cobwebs and more splash marks etc, every picture on the wall had dust on the top. The back garden had weeds coming from almost every paving stone, almost a foot high, broken and mouldy garden furniture, plant pots that contained overgrown weeds, a broken and rusty barbaque, a sock and an energy can just chucked there. It was awful. We immediately contacted the property with all of this to be told some things may have been “missed” and the garden was going to be sorted in the coming weeks?? We said how bad the dirt/stains/marked carpets/curtains/walls were and were offered a full refund if we left that day. We had booked for 3 nights and had our two dogs with us so really didn’t want to g home, we were eventually (later that day) offered another property miles out of Scarborough which we declined.

The house was comfortable and clean. It was nicely decorated and warm.

− Parking permit was not for zone where the house was situated, so we had to park a few streets away. Would have liked another baking tray to use in the oven.

Brilliant location, lovely house, everything you could need and helpful and friendly hosts and also allowed a later check out which was really good as my 8 year old is a lazy bugger
