The worst place we've even stayed

1.0

Nothing. It was a good location for our plans but because everything was so poor we left and cancelled our weekend.

Instructions stated No. 3 but when we arrived No. 3 was somebody's home - a dog barked as I approached the door. It was answered by a woman who pointed to a side gate with "3A" above it leading to the accomodation. She was friendly enough and I found the key in an unlocked key safe, lucky because I'd twice asked the owner for the code which wasn't forthcoming. The entrance access was a high step and a section of tree trunk had been placed to act as a step. This could have been treacherous for those using walking aids. The bed was awful. The bottom sheet was covered in bobbles and didn't fit the mattress. It was also stained. Since we arrived very late we had no choice but to sleep on the bed which was so soft it was impossible to move without being swallowed. The mattress protector was stained as was the mattress which had blood spots on it. The pillows were stained. The tv was positioned in the bedroom with no seating. It was impossible to watch tv so we streamed tv onto a laptop we'd taken along - good job we did. The host left a large quantity of alcohol in the fridge and a cupboard. It was fortunate that my wife was with me to place this alcohol outside and out of sight. This was a particularly ill-considered act and caused me great distress. A tiny desk fan was provided for cooling in the heat, the fan blades were filthy. The garden is communal with Number 3 so there was no chance of enjoying that in privacy. The living area had only ceiling lights, no standard or table lamps to make it feel cosy. The only object possible to place a table lamp was a crate turned onto its side acting as a bookcase. Throughout the accomodation - the living room, the hall and the bathroom there were tributes to a theatre actor. It was rather creepy. The toilet roll holder was loose. No dishwasher. No laundry. No settee big enough for two to cosy up. The settee had tears in its fabric and the other chair was stained. Breakfast chairs are uncomfortable.

Overall comfortable relaxing stay

8.0

The location was very good with walks from the doorstep but easy links for travel into London. The property was spacious with a good garden. The bed was extremely comfortable. The host was accommodating for our dog.

A full size fridge would be preferable. The tabletop one on the floor was impractical. Only having a TV in the bedroom was inconvenient.

Comfortable and quiet. Host responded promptly to messages.

Spacious, enclosed garden

Lack of a proper fridge. No wardrobe or drawers. TV in bedroom , not lounge. More towels would have been helpful.

Location was great, huge potential.

This property could be fabulous but sadly there was a strong smell of damp in the downstairs area. This needs addressing as it takes away from what would otherwise be great.
