A lovely place to stay, but with one or two small disappointments...

Beautiful quiet accommodation in the countryside but near to Llantwit Major and the coast. Spotlessly clean with lots of nice little touches. A very comfortable bed and a well-appointed bathroom. Continental breakfast provided and great to have a fridge in the room. Delightful garden divided into seating areas, plus a hot tub. Sharon was very nice, and also helpful when we needed something.

− There were one or two things which we were disappointed about. We couldn't get the tv/dvd player to work. The first problem was there were no batteries in the remote - provided on asking. The tv and dvd all-in-one needs a handbook in the room. The controls are along the top of the tv, and very tricky to navigate with. We'd brought a dvd we were in the middle of watching, and we couldn't get to the episode we wanted to watch next. We spent 20 minutes trying to get it to work and failed. I wanted a shower - late, before I went to bed - I couldn't get the shower to run hot. The bath taps ran hot; my partner couldn't get the shower to run hot either. (It was getting too late to start ringing through to our hosts). We used the hot tub, but could only get one jet to work. Considering the price, we both thought that these things were a shame because everything else was good.

The host was extremely polite and curtious and greeted us on arrival. She made sure to show us around and was always available for any queries. The house was very tidy and orderly, the room did have the odd cobweb and dust spots however this didn't impact on anything about the room. The emenities were great such as the hot tub which I had no problems with booking in time slot that fit appropriately. There was a continental breakfast included however the milk provided was unfortunately out of date. The area surrounding the property is beautiful and there are many things nearby to travel and see, the location offers much opportunity to explore the south of Wales. Over all the Tathan Herd is a great place to stay and I would definitely recommend it especially given the very affordable price

The host was great and greeted us upon arrival, even cracking me open a complimentary beer. Explained everything clearly, nice welcome pack that laid out local places to visit etc also. Lovely clean house, clean room, a living area with a pool table, use of hot tub and bbq if we wanted, breakfast bits in the room with bread, toaster, orange juice, cereals all provided. Really can't recommend enough, one of our favourite places we've booked. We'll happily book again if and when back in the area.
