An all round excellent stay. We will definitely be returning.
9.0Lovely house - exceptional really. A lot of thought has been put into the decoration of the house which made it feel very welcoming and homely. Loved the biscuits in the bedroom and the pot of Werthers Originals. Location was excellent. Car-parking was on the street outside the house. We walked around Woburn Park to see the deer. Lots of restaurants / pubs in the area (we ate at Lussmanns). The breakfast was perfect for me. Granola, fresh fruit, greek yoghurt, toast and coffee. I don't need anything else! In fact Adam provided so much fruit he kindly gave me some to take home - and a packet of seeds to plant to remind us of our stay. How thoughtful. Lovely to meet Stanley - the new puppy. The garden is also lovely. A nice, calming oasis. Adam recommended the local Indian restaurant so we will be returning! I don't normally leave reviews but the welcome from Adam and the warmth that flows around Havisham House - I can't express enough how much I enjoyed the stay.
− A 5.00 p.m. check-in is possibly a little later than the norm - particularly if you want to get ready to go out for the evening. That is not a criticism - just a personal observation. (Only because it takes me a while to get ready!).
Adam made us feel very comfortable and relaxed. We’ll be back
10.0Everything.
I booked my stay here because of the excellent reviews: now I see why they were so good.
9.0There is so much to like I can't be sure to mention everything. The location was perfect -- excellent dining places within a very short walk, and an ideal base for my visits to Bletchley Park and the Shuttleworth Collection at Old Warden before going on to my weekend event at Cranfield University. I do not normally eat breakfast at all, so the generous portions of natural yoghurt and fresh fruit were a treat as well as allowing me not to feel too guilty about wrecking my diet with my lavish dining out in the evening. If people want something more substantial there were granola and toast and eggs all on offer, but I did not take advantage of them. The coffee was fine, and Adam kindly gave me some Lapsang Souchong (a personal favourite) teabags from his own stock. The tea-making facilities in the room already included Earl Grey as well as ordinary Indian tea, as well as a pot of biscuits and another of Werther's Originals. The room itself was comfy, highly decorative, with plenty of drawer and wardrobe space for people with more clothes to store than I brought. A quiet but efficient column fan kept the air moving, an important consideration in the hot weather. The shower was easily big enough for a big bloke like me to get in, the controls easy to use (some shower controls have been known to baffle me), and plentiful supplies of shower gel, toilet roll, towels, tissues and so on. The guest internet worked perfectly and caused no problems at all throughout my stay. Finally I have to say what a treat it was to meet Stanley, an affectionate little French Bulldog pup.
− The only mild inconvenience I suffered was the need to kneel down to reach the power point under the surface I placed my laptop on (Having moved some of the numerous decorative items to make space). This is only really an inconvenience for an old, creaky and stiff person like me who is in need of a hip operation; most people would have no problem. In any case, Adam solved it instantly as soon as I mentioned it with the loan of an extension lead. The stairs are quite steep, and although I was OK, if slow, going up and down, it might be a concern for people with balance problems. Adam kindly carried my luggage for me, so, again, what could have been a small problem was promptly solved.
