Cute but disappointing
6.0The house looks so nice and I really wanted to love it... but unfortunately I did not (see the "What did you not like" section for more details). Pretty wooden furniture and good Wi-Fi though. Note that if you plan on using the kitchenette, you'll have to bring everything you need (including oil, salt and pepper) as nothing is provided.
− Whoever designed the space clearly didn't try living in it for a day – there are a whole bunch of small but obvious things that just don't work and that make the overall experience irritating. First, the elephant in the room: there are no bedside tables and barely any shelves/drawers in the bedroom or bathroom, so you have to either keep all your stuff in your suitcase or lay out your clothes on... well, the floor or the kitchen table, basically. There was a light switch we absolutely couldn't touch as it would trip all the breakers at once, every time. The house is right next to a busy road so you hear cars and tractors passing by all day and all night. You can hear the people in the next division loud and clear, too. Instead of good old tested-and-true rolls of toilet paper, we were given a pile of little toilet paper squares (the stuff you find in public bathrooms sometimes), but without a proper dispenser, it just doesn't work – the whole thing keeps unraveling like an accordion onto the floor. There is a Nescafé coffee maker in the kitchenette, and we were given 5 coffee capsules, but it turned out that 2 of them had already been used. And I could go on. Taken separately, none of these things are all that bad, but they quickly pile up and become very frustrating.
The lodge was far from everything

− The room was nice, a little noisy when other guests were in their rooms. It is a long, but nice walk to Ponte de Lima, and eating options are scarce around you. There is a restaurant on the property, but I didn't try, I couldn't figure out how to get in, plus it was a fancy place, and I'm so blue-collar I probably would have felt uncomfortable.
