Property wasn’t equipped for winter stays!

We recently rented a property through Bachcare in Whitianga for a three-night stay. The property itself was amazing, clean, and pet-friendly, making it a great choice for a summer getaway.

− However, there were a few disappointments that affected our overall experience since we visited during the winter season. Upon arrival, we discovered that the fireplace did not have any firewood provided. Instead, there was a significant amount of wood stacked next to the fireplace with a note stating, "Decorative wood, do not burn." Furthermore, there was only one heater available for the entire four bedroom property, leaving the other three bedrooms very cold. Considering the chilly weather, this was quite inconvenient. We contacted Bachcare regarding this issue and were informed that they would reach out to the property manager and get back to us. Unfortunately, it took them three days to contact the manager and respond to our concerns. In the meantime, we had to purchase three boxes of firewood ourselves. When the firewood finally arrived on the third day by the property managers, we were given only three damp logs, which was far from sufficient and no more heaters were provided. This was a letdown considering the way property was advertised. During our stay, we faced additional inconveniences. On the second night, while doing the dishes, we ran out of hot water, and to our dismay, we discovered that on the third morning, we had no hot water at all for showering. We contacted Bach are, and they sent someone to address the issue. It was then revealed that the stove burners and hot water relied on a gas bottle. However, there were no clear instructions provided regarding the switchover of gas bottle to ensure a continuous supply of gas. Additionally, the lack of shampoo and conditioner in the bathrooms was another disappointment. Despite messaging the property prior to our stay to confirm the availability of these amenities, they had assured us that they would be provided. However, upon arrival, we discovered that there were no shampoo or conditioner bottles in either of the two bathrooms.

Fairly new, sunny batch in a lovely neighbourhood. Close walk to the beach. Plenty of parking on the roadside. Big spacious deck outside. Very comfortable beds.

− Just few practical things… There were no dining table, no mirrors in the bedrooms or bedside lights. Lock box for the key was jammed, could do some crc. Fourth bedroom is actually a garage turned into a sleepout.
