The only positive about this property was the location. We wouldn't stay there again.

The location of this property was good.

− First of all the whole property is not yours. This property was falsely advertised. You only had the bottom part of the home. Upstairs was occupied and the noise was terrible between the floors. There was no noise protection at all. There was a musty smell in the living room. No heating or heat pump in the property. There was a laundry tub but no washing machine. The beds were very hard and uncomfortable. We felt this property was over priced for what it had to offer. Constant noise coming upstairs from people walking around upstairs. We were really disappointed as we were hoping for a quiet weekend away.

− My recent stay at Cooks Beach Gem was disappointing. The lack of cleanliness, particularly with the dishes, and the absence of basic amenities like soap made for an uncomfortable experience for the price I paid. Note that you will need to collect the garbage as they don't provide bins to dump it. I wouldn't recommend this property until these issues are addressed.

Close to beach and very friendly staff, which I think are the owners.

− This property isn’t worth 2439 New Zealand dollars for 4 nights!! I think the only people that ever pay that price are tourists like ourselves that booked late and have travelled from a far away country so we take what we get. I saw it was some high reviews and it’s probably from people who haven’t paid $2430 for 4 nights because I would have also given it a higher review if I paid half the rate. The kitchen was old and run down with a gas stove nobody uses nowadays and the was unusable. Utensils were old and barely usable. Beds were hard and rooms stuffed. No AC making it very hot. House is dark because it’s on the bottom floor. The windows and doors don’t meet security standards, and very easy to break into. Not sure insurance companies would cover theft and break in with such a poor standard lock. The worst experience considering we paid $2430 for 4 nights! Closeness to beach and the owners friendliness made me give it a 5 rating otherwise I would have given it a 1. Hope owners will refurnish accommodation after this review and stop ripping off overseas European tourists like us!
