Very unique house in a nice small town.

We werden ontvangen door de eigenaars en kregen een korte rondleiding. Heel aardige en sympathieke mensen. Het is een groot huis, met 3 slaapkamers (2 met eigen badkamer en airco, de derde is beneden en daar staat een ventilator). Binnen in het huis is van alles te zien, vanwege de kunst die er hangt en staat (van de eigenaar). Beneden zijn er 2 zitgedeeltes, boven is er ook een met een tv (naast een van de slaapkamers). Alles was netjes en schoon. De tuin is groot met een heerlijk zwembad, een prachtig overdekt terras (met jasmijn) en een weids uitzicht. Vanuit de tuin is het kasteel van Almodovar del rio ook te zien. Parkeren kan een paar meter verderop in een openbare overdekte garage of bovenop de garage in de buitenlucht. We hadden daar elke keer een plaatsje gevonden.

− Het huis ligt direct aan de straat en je hoort de auto's af en toe langskomen. Toch waren we snel aan de geluiden gewend. De kinderen sliepen beneden aan de voorkant en zij hebben heerlijk geslapen.

Esta fantástica casa presume de una distribución creativa con espacios distintos y multifuncionales. Cuenta con un salón con chimenea y una zona de lectura separada. Cada habitación posee un carácter único, destacando una de ellas como una magnífica verdadera biblioteca. En el exterior, puedes disfrutar de múltiples terrazas, una pequeña piscina refrescante, un rincón de barbacoa y un jardín vibrante con limoneros y jazmín. Lo que realmente eleva esta propiedad es la presencia constante de las artes, ya que toda la casa está habitada por las hermosas obras de su anfitrión y artista plástico, Esteban Ruiz.

Mixed feelings about this property. Some aspects were superb, others were a let-down. 1. Host is great, very nice and prompt, lovely man. 2. Location is nice, but is down a very steep, old cobbled road; nothing bad about this, except if you are driving, be careful. 3. The property was fabulous. Amazing mix of old and new, with orange and lime/lemon trees in the backyard, a swimming pool, outdoor seats, etc. Interior was very tastefully, artistically, done. 4. Kitchen was great, well-equipped; fridge, freezer, microwave, kettle. Milk, tea, filter coffee provided; Nespresso machine available. 5. Lovely views from the back of the house. Now the downsides: 1. Parking was a big problem. No private parking for the house; nearby municipal parks, both were full both nights we were there and we had to park illegally both nights; had to go early-ish in the morning to check there were no tickets, and move the car. 2. Biggest problem: hot water. Both in the evenings and in the mornings, the hot water ran out after 1.5 showers; we had a busy day planned, and we had to carry hot water from the kitchen sink in vessels upstairs to shower!! It was strange, because there was good hot water in the kitchen sink. Obviously, there is a problem, and it was very annoying. To make things easier, two of us had a shower the night before, and during the second shower the water cooled down. This is just not acceptable. 3. In one of the bedrooms, there is no physical separation between the sleeping area and the toilet/shower. No, I am not joking. I don't know about Spanish living styles in detail, but this was NOT something we could ever get used to. I feel bad writing this because the host was so nice and the property was amazing once you are inside (except for the bedroom-toilet situation as above).

Beautiful and comfortable house. Lovely garden and patio to relax with wonderful views. Kids loved the pool.
