− Very strange, the heavily chain and padlocked gate was more than unwelcoming and also a very questionable H&S issue.

The cottage was lovely, down a really quiet lane. It was furnished really well with everything you need for your stay (the bed was really comfy)

Diabolical - avoid at all costs

After complaining about cleanliness, male told me to leave, twice, after 20 minutes.

− ‘Host’ did not introduce himself - he was kurt when speaking. I drove into compound and was extremely alarmed as host chained and padlocked gate. Host said gate was chained and padlocked when entering and exiting compound (non working farmyard, broken pieces of concrete, dilapidated cow shed, disused old caravan). The accommodation is nothing more than a very long wood shed partitioned into separate sheds with broken, tatty furniture in them. I pointed out that microwave and fridge were not clean as they still had food residue in them and he told me he wanted me to leave. I asked where the electrical safety stickers (PAT TEST) were none present and electrical items were old. The wood shed smelt of excretia and I told him so - he then told me to leave again and that I was not getting my money back! He said I complained so I wouldn’t have to stay there! The bath mat smelt of cheese. Obviously not washed between guests. This farmyard is very isolated and is not suitable for solo female guests. There were not any fire extinguishers or fire blankets in row of wood sheds - very dangerous. Advertised as having an oven, but only a microwave and 2 old hotplates screwed to work surface. He said an oven was not advertised! This dilapidated accommodation is most certainly not a “luxury cottage”. Lastly, advert does not mention that ‘secure parking’ means guests are locked in/out of compound/farmyard. If a fire broke out it would spread rapidly between wood shed accommodation. I was the only guest there. The ‘host’ only returned £195 of my £260. My bank is dealing with this.
