Santana, Flower's House

8.0

This house was spacious with magnificent views. The kitchen is really well stocked and it's great to have a washing machine too. You'll need a car to do justice to all the surrounding sights as public transport doesn't seem to come near the property. We rented a car and found this a wonderful position to base ourselves in. We'd love to return again, it was fabulous

The property isn't warm so bring a jersey or two! We didn't like the indoor camera but had read about that in previous reviews so knew what we were getting.

The nicest mountain chalet!

9.0

The property is a beautiful one bedroom chalet that is quite extensive with parking and a backyard. There's an upstairs with stunning views and a billiard table. The hostess was extremely helpful and kind with step by step instructions from getting to the property from the airport and key collection.

Nothing, though be aware that the property is slightly remote with little public transport or taxis available in the area. Best to hire a car that can be haggled for with local companies.

Superb

9.0

Very nice villa. Not all spaces are currently usable for accommodation, but what one needs (living room, bedroom, bathroom, kitchen, etc.) is absolutely OK, plus a game room in the attic, an outdoor table, and a fireplace. The kitchen is spacious and well-equipped. The entire house is very nice, although it is evident that it has not been used for some time, as the owner herself mentioned. Considering the price we paid, it was an extraordinary experience; we are used to living in a 70 square meter apartment. Upon closer inspection, you realize that you don't need to buy oranges and avocados. Also, some herbs, like mint. The location is quiet and good for trips to the eastern part of the island, with a hypermarket and smaller local restaurants and pubs within driving distance / walk.

Peaceful stay

10.0

Went to visit family, so I already had an understanding of how remote the house was going to be. It was a brisk 25 minute walk from my relatives house. Keys were in a keylock beside the front door, so no qualms there. Advisable to have a vehicle if not expecting to hike everywhere once crossing the threshold of the house. I was on foot the entire time. Quiet at night, do make sure you've locked the front door properly once inside. A gust of wind opened the door during the night as I hadn't locked it properly and it put the fear of God in me. I'm a light sleeper.

Kitchen was fully equipped which was wonderful. Due to the location of the house and my partner and I arriving late at night, it would have been a small mercy for the Tea ,Coffee and Sugar tins to not have been empty. There is a good bakery nearby serving coffee and pastries and they open quite early. Not much of an issue, but it did force us out of the house very early in the morning.

Brillant!

10.0

Rui is a fantastic host. Santana was the perfect place for us to stay for a week in Madeira. Lots of places to eat nearby. All very reasonable. Close to hikes. Swam every day at Praia do Faial. Don't miss the pastries at Bia, literally 2 min drive away from here. And once more Rui is wonderful, recommendations for everything you could ask for.

Once the pool is back up and running it will be even more amazing, but it didn't bother us. Some people might not like the sound of a rooster in the morning but it's very enjoyable imo!

Beautiful house, nice location, but we felt uncomfortable

5.0

We stayed four nights in this house. The house was easily accessible from the airport by car. We arrived in the evening and checked in with the key box without any problems. The house was very beautiful and spacious. There was a small parking area in the front garden. The location was nice, there was an amazing bakery („Delicias da Bia“) and a local market with delicious and cheap regional fruits nearby.

The shower curtain was way too long and really moldy at the bottom. The bed sheets were made of polyester and uncomfortable. Unfortunately, we noticed on the second day that there are cameras INDOOR (entrance room, living room, …) placed! We noticed them because if you leave the bedroom and go to the main entrance, the camera begins to light up red! We wouldn't have minded the cameras outside, but indoor cameras are an absolute no-go and a violation of privacy! There was no information on booking about the security system (alarm system, cameras).
