We spent 20 wonderful days here in August, escaping the summer invasion of the nearby coast where we live, and this ancient farmhouse was the perfect retreat. It’s a stunning property in the traditional Canary Islands style, with separate rooms connected through a charming courtyard filled with plants and flowers. The renovation has been done very respectfully, keeping the soul of the house while making it comfortable and cozy. The views are lovely – you can see the surrounding hills dotted with other farmhouses and the ocean in the distance. The house itself is spacious and full of character, with plenty of little objects and details everywhere that make it feel like you’re staying at your parents’ home – warm, lived-in, and welcoming. Some courtyard areas and passages are shared with guests of the other house on the property, La Tronja (rented by the hosts’ family), but that was never an issue for us. The WiFi didn’t reach the bedrooms, which might matter for some, and I personally like to have a microwave, so I brought my own along with a couple of fans since we arrived in the middle of a heatwave. It’s worth mentioning that the nearest supermarket is about a 20-minute hike along a steep-ish path. We managed perfectly without a car because we enjoy hiking, but if you’re not used to walking, you will definitely need a car, especially if you want to explore the island, as there’s no bus stop nearby. What really made our stay special were the small joys: picking figs and berries straight from the trees, enjoying the peace and space, and feeling completely at home. Our two cats were also very happy here – thank you so much for welcoming them! The host was friendly and nice, and we truly loved our stay. We’ll miss this place and hope to return one day.
