All was fine at this small no frills pub with guest rooms
7.0All was fine at this small no frills pub with guest rooms. You don't pay a lot but whilst it's simply fitted out it's good value, clean, comfortable enough in a basic way, and the staff are polite, cheerful, helpful and efficient. The layout is a bit of a hotchpotch in this old building and it was totally boiling in the heatwave (and with pretty constant noise from the adjacent A40 through the open windows). Plus the kitchen extractor fan blew the smoky by-product of that day's steak night... straight in the bedroom! But even so I was happy enough because I got to eat some of the end product (which was better than the smell of the burnt bits turned to carbon from off the grill rack in the bedroom!!) The food exceeds expectations for the place and price even if the rest is a more basic and rudimentary affair. Overall, recommended for a budget stay!
− Having a TV which didn't get anything unless you were already a Netflix subscriber... was a bit below par, and if there is a tv in the room telling guests "oh yeah, you can't get proper telly on this" when they ask why no programmes is a bit beneath! Surely it would be worth getting some Freeview boxes or something surely, so as not to be telling customers that, even at this price point?!? Worth thinking about.

8.0Beautiful room! Was impressed with the cleanliness of the room, not a cobweb in sight! 😆Nicely laid out. Loved the bath in the bedroom. Very quiet for a room above a pub, didn't hear a peep. Very comfortable matress. Really good value for money.
− It was very hot and humid in the room (heatwave in UK) Not a fault of the BnB, they cannot help thw weather, but it did affect our sleep experience unfortunately. It was an attic room with two skylights, and a table fan. We asked for a bucket of ice to put infront of the fan which helped a little. A cool bath for the baby was really helpful too. In the winter I imagine this room would be wonderful, but in the height of summer a small AC unit of sorts would be ideal perhaps 😊
