The village was charming, and it was a highlight to explore it. The cottage was disappointing. We were given an incorrect key code and had to telephone the emergency number to obtain the correct code. Even after given the correct number it was difficult to access the property. Someone had to let us in and we had to wait for 40 minutes for this to happen. The key box was covered in cobwebs and this standard was reflected within the cottage. The cottage had not been serviced for some time. It was dusty and dirty. The kitchen floor and dining room floors were covered in broken glass. The toilets seats hadn’t been secured properly and were very loose when using. Only one quarter of toilet roll had been left in one toilet. We had to buy our own so there was toilet paper in both toilets. There wasn’t a plug for the laundry sink which meant it couldn’t be used. The television didn’t work. Three remote controls were left and basic instructions had been written out for two of the controls. Despite the basic instructions the television didn’t work. The bath is lovely and deep and there are many signs in the bathroom warning users not to get water on the floor because of the damage it causes to the floor/ceiling This isn’t easy to achieve and only one small towelling bath was left to protect the floor when showering/bathing. Nothing more substantial was available to protect the area around the bath. Dead moths were found in one of the towels in one of the bedrooms. There was a general feeling of neglect. We had to telephone the caretakers three times, to: secure access to the property when we first arrived, inform them of the broken glass covering the kitchen and dining room floors, and inform them of the non working television, lack of floor protection in the bathroom and the missing laundry sink plug. They in-turn had to attend the property three times, to: allow us access to the cottage, clean up the broken glass, provide a bath mat. They also couldn’t work the TV.

We loved the look and feel of the cottage and it was exactly what we had hoped for in terms of an 'oldy worldy' place to stay with beams galore and a stunning fireplace. We loved the history (we would have liked to know more about the actual history of the cottage throughout the years). The location was ideal for exploring Lavenham on foot and surrounding areas by car. What a beautiful place to stay! We were literally mesmerised by the fire while we relaxed of an evening and were blown away by the character of the property. .

− Much like other reviews, the shower is an issue - it is incredibly difficult to use the shower in the bath without splashing walls/the floor and it didn't make for a fun or relaxing bathing/showering experience. The water temperature was also not even. Perhaps a shower cubicle in the utility area could be considered? The drainer in the kitchen needs a tray underneath it as we couldn't drain dishes etc without water running along the worktop/onto the floor. It could have been cleaner in places.

I loved the walks, the houses and how close everything is. It's a beautiful area and the house had so many quirky bits to it. I loved the HUGE fireplace. Board games are provided as are a couple of basics in the cupboards.

it was in good proximity to the town. there was a washing machine.

− unable to have a proper shower. only a hand held shower head in a free standing bath without a screen or shower curtain. there were instructions to keep the water in the bath....impossible. No mention of that in the description of the property. The whole house needs a good clean, cobwebs everywhere. The bed in the back bedroom was like a concrete slab and the pillows were very uncomfortable. It was very overpriced.
