Ungezellig hotel with rookie staff

I want to like this hotel more, due its location being so close to the Zuid station. I’ve stayed here multiple times (5?) due to that alone.

− It’s ungezellig. The Dutch can do modern styling and furnishings but still make it cozy/gezellig. This is just cold. The bed is ok, bedding (sheets, pillows, duvet cover) are all seriously third rate quality. Same with the thin towels that are tired and, again, third rate for the money (€275-350 per night, without tax) Also just to note the front desk lack of finesse. I arrived at the front desk to check in. Receptionist was on phone, ended call and she looked up to me and indicated she was ready to check me in. While I am taking one or two steps up to the counter another guest swoops in, without making eye contact with me or looking my way (I’m sure on purpose), hands over her luggage claim tag to the receptionist. Rather than acknowledging the inconvenience to me or telling the other guest to wait, the receptionist just left the desk to get the woman’s luggage. She returned a few minutes later, after handing over the woman’s luggage, and apologised to me for the wait but did not say anything about what had happened. A truly trained professional in the industry in any decent hotel would have either told the woman who jumped the queue to wait while she checked me in, or at the very least addressed me in front of the rude guest to wait by explaining that I was next; or to ask me in front of the other guest if I would not mind waiting while she would tend to this task first and then check me in. In most instances the guest would recognise their mistake or rudeness etc. Very poor handling of the situation and reflects poorly on the chain.
