10.0We are Bonvoy members and always choose to stay at a Marriott but I was a little leery after reading some of the recent reviews on this particular hotel. I decided to go ahead and book and I’m glad we did. We were in town to explore the Carlsbad caverns and stayed for a night. The gentleman at check in was kind and even told us when we returned at night that we would need to use our room card as the hotel locks the front entry doors and it’s only opened via room card. That was great and we appreciated it as we came in after dark from Star watching and the bar flight at the caverns. The room was typical style for all their hotels and everything was clean. Breakfast was great in the morning with every station clean, food hot and replenished. The staff was kind and even helped us print out a park pass we needed as we drove back to Texas. Thanks again for another great Marriott stay,
No front desk person to even check in - canceling stay
2.0We came to check into our room at 5:45pm - even prepaid for the room. There was a man waiting 10 before us. No one was at the front desk so we can check into our room after our long drive. It’s been over 40 minutes and still no front desk person has showed. We knocked on all the staff rooms and no answer.

10.0Continental breakfast was as expected, I liked the oatmeal, banana, orange. Coffee was great. There were quiche, scrambled egg, sausages, etc. The hotel location was convenient to Carlsbad Cavern.
− It would be nice to have a lamp on the desk.
