8.0Bed was comfy, tray for dirty shoes was needed that day so a good idea. Breakfast was very good - enjoyed the options of cereal and fruit in addition to hot breakfast where many places had only offered the hot breakfast. On the AD122 route which helped as quite a long and hilly way from the trail.
− Shower not strong - wanted to wash my hair but too weak. Coffee and sugar supplied but no tea bags (and even though we wanted tea before bed we were too tired to go to restaurant reception to ask for them). Door did not lock despite many attempts. Host needs to repair (it took the girl who checked us in quite awhile to unlock on our arrival). It was twice the price of another place we stayed that was much better.
Beautiful castle retreat while in Hadrian's Wall hike
10.0Exterior is very classic with an old castle on the property. The rooms are well furnished with great design and finishes. Restaurant was exceptional and owner was very nice and even gave us a ride to the trailhead the next morning!

10.0The owners were incredible, nothing was too much trouble for them and on request they were keen to share the remarkable history of the place, dating back to the Knights Templar. The food and drinks were top quality and excellently cooked.
