Good location near Magazine St for shopping and on tram route for French Quarter. Old fashioned stylish hotel with great live jazz music in the evening.

This historic hotel is absolutely lovely, the streetcar is right outside the front door so it's easy to get around and super convenient. The room was great, and I loved the uniqueness of it. The accessible restroom was large and had everything that I needed. While the staff was kind, they weren't the most helpful. We had trouble finding a spot to park and unload on our arrival, and when we called the front desk asking for instructions, they didn't have any solutions for us other than "park in the unloading zone". The unloading zone wasn't visible and was full, so we had to circle the hotel for 20-30 minutes before we could even get inside, which was stressful on an unfamiliar city, especially one as busy as New Orleans. Cleaning staff did not come into the room each day, so whenever we needed anything (additional towels, toilet paper, to have the trash taken out, etc.) we had to call and ask for it specifically. There were also many times when we tried to call the front desk for assistance, and nobody answered. While it didn't ruin our stay by any stretch of the imagination, I've had much better service at much cheaper hotels, and I expected better. The restaurants at the hotel were quite good. We were able to get dinner at the Bayou Bar our first night and the burger and catfish sandwich were great, and the silver whistle is great.

Lots of character and excellent location. Outside needs sprucing up, and grout in shower needs attention as well as the door handle to the room. It’s falling off. The deadbolt locks the door, so the handle is not really functional, but it’s a bad look. The devil is in the details.
