9.0POOLS, RESTAURANTS, SERVICE.LOCATION
Fun family island paradise.
10.0Pools were awesome, and a great included breakfast.
− Be ready to be around a lot of families, it is a kid friendly resort after all! Not a negative since we were one of them, just be aware that’s the vibe.
peaceful, elegant and relaxing
9.0overall property and environs were beautiful. Restaurants were also appealing. Pools and walkway areas were also nice
− no complaints
Aloha at its finest.
10.0Wow! What an amazing place. While the hotel website was accurate, You have to see it to really appreciate the experience. The entryway framed the ocean. The huge entrance, the parrots, the shopping, the pools... Wonderful! Our teen was able to hang with parents at the 14+ pool area and then take off to the saltwater lagoon, beach, gym... Great rooms, Super views. A lovely walkway along the ocean and easy access to shipwreck beach. Mahalo
A Return Visit That Didn’t Quite Meet Expectations
8.0We recently returned from our second stay at the Grand Hyatt Kauai, having previously visited in 2023. Unfortunately, this visit did not live up to our previous experience. Our stay got off to a disappointing start with check in. Our first room overlooked a large extractor or air conditioning unit that created constant noise which was clearly audible from inside the room. When I asked the bellman if it switched off overnight, he was unable to help. I then spoke with the front desk and felt as though my concerns were dismissed. I was told that because the noise was outside, moving rooms would not make a difference. Thankfully we did move rooms and the difference was significant. The new room was much quieter and far more enjoyable. Given the cost of staying at this resort, it was disappointing to feel as though we were being unreasonable for not wanting to spend our vacation listening to industrial equipment outside our room. Once we changed rooms, our experience improved considerably. The highlights of the resort were definitely the pool bar and the main bar in the evenings. The live music created a fantastic atmosphere and the staff at both locations were friendly, welcoming, and provided excellent service throughout our stay. One area that really needs improvement is the pool chair situation. Guests reserve loungers with towels early in the morning and often leave them empty for hours at a time. On several days we sat next to unoccupied chairs that remained unused for most of the day while other guests struggled to find somewhere to sit. Staff never seemed to enforce any policy or make those chairs available again, which made the pool experience frustrating. Another disappointment was Tidepools. During our 2023 visit it was one of the best meals we had on the island and was a highlight of our trip. This time the food was nowhere near the same standard. Neither my wife nor I finished our meals, which was surprising and disappointing given our previous experience. Overall, the Grand Hyatt Kauai is still a beautiful resort with wonderful grounds, excellent bars, and many great staff members. However, based on this stay and compared with other resorts we have visited, I no longer feel it delivers a true five star experience. With improvements to the arrival experience, better management of pool seating, and a return to the food quality we experienced previously, it could once again become one of our favorite resorts.
