Central Location, But Overpriced and Underwhelming
6.0Hotel Madrid Reina Victoria is perfectly located for exploring Madrid, and we appreciated being checked in early after our long flight from the U.S.—a thoughtful gesture that started things off well. Unfortunately, the rest of the stay didn’t live up to expectations. The surrounding construction was a major disappointment. It stripped away the charm of the area, making it impossible to enjoy even the plaza in front of the hotel. The bed was too soft for my liking—far from the comfort of Hotel Colón Gran Meliá in Sevilla. Toilet paper was surprisingly rough, which added to the discomfort. We appreciated the daily water for the coffee pot and the variety of espresso pods. Our espresso machine had issues upon arrival, but staff replaced it promptly. The nightly rate felt steep, and breakfast was an additional €30 per person per day—far too much for what was offered. Had I known about the construction and these limitations, I likely wouldn’t have booked, despite my loyalty to the Meliá brand. This stay felt overpriced and impersonal, and despite the location, it’s not a place I’ll be returning to—or recommending.
